Optical Overload 128

SFX360:

Sean must be on drugs or something because he dares to step into the realm of Mortal Kombat with Scorpion. Although, he does have a few tricks up his sleeve so I’m sure he’ll be fine.

Portal 2, Mortal Kombat, and like three other games came out Tuesday. So to celebrate this ritualistic emptying of our wallets, we released a special comic yesterday entitled “Portal Sucks”. But to stay on schedule, here we are again. As you can see, Portal is still on our brains; some may even say it is in our hearts. Which is a shame really, since our hearts are being ripped out and eaten in Mortal Kombat.

While Portal 2 is a sophisticated game that is not just fun, buy thought provoking; Mortal Kombat is as straight forward and blunt as you can get. Hell, the game is so lacking in sophistication that it spells Combat with a K. But hey, that’s why we love it! Sure, it’s not as sophisticated as Portal 2, but Portal 2 isn’t as bloody and horrific as we’d like it to be.

My only wish is that we could have our cake and eat it too, but you know what they say about cakes.

Mortal Kombat: Flawless Victory Announced

A new book detailing the artwork of the franchise has been announced

robtion213d ago

Let me fix this title to something less click baity for you:

New Book: Mortal Kombat: Flawless Victory Announced.

Garethvk213d ago (Edited 213d ago )

The description clearly says what it is. It is not like people have to click to the site. They just have to read.

robtion213d ago

Sure they don't have to go to the site but to get to the description they already have to have clicked on it. Thus the term 'click bait'.

Rebel_Scum213d ago (Edited 213d ago )

If its a book say its a book in the article title. Everyone’s gonna think this is a new game and get annoyed reading your description.

Garethvk213d ago (Edited 213d ago )

The Mods had no issues with the title.
The first line under the image says new book and you can see it in the preview windows without even having to click to read the description.

It also says a Visual History on the image.

Rebel_Scum213d ago

On desktop and mobile the text a visual history is not visible in the thumbnail on the homepage.

I grew up on this stuff. Adding it to the art collection!

I do hope the next MK iteration goes back to the core of what made these characters appeal in the first place. A few of them lost their edge - I think I've had enough with some of the auntie designs 😂

Simon's Quest is better than Symphony.

If you're gonna troll, at least make a legitimate attempt.

Levii_92295d ago

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

LG_Fox_Brazil294d ago

That's a pretty fucking great list

__y2jb294d ago (Edited 294d ago )

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.
