That would be APPIC. Get it? Cuz Apple has all those apps? and now they'd be epic apps?....Appic XD?

Ok I'll leave now.

sdtarm5502d ago

this crap articles should dissapear from N4G ssly

guitarded775502d ago

@Jizzy
That is so true... bubbles for intelligence.

Solidus187-SCMilk5502d ago

considering that almost all their games sell on 360, ps3 and PC the most.

Soldierone5502d ago

The Apple would destroy the gaming industry....Epic is a massive part of the game industry with the Unreal Engine. Last thing we need is a new iEngine every six months...

That and Apple keeps pretending to be a handheld game developer....this will probably make them think iConsole is a good idea and take Unreal Engine entirely from all the other developers...

In other words I HOPE they never sell out to Apple...or dark days of gaming are near.

BattleAxe5502d ago

There are other engines out there that could be used like Cryengine 3 and maybe even Frostbite 2. Also I think I remember Naughty Dog saying that anyone was welcome to use their engine, although its meant mainly for PS3.

Soldierone5502d ago

None of those are as cost effective and easy to use as Unreal Engine. Its the number one engine in the industry for a reason.

Raendom5502d ago

Unreal Engine only encourages developers to limit themselves graphically, and do generic games.

Would be quite glad for Apple to buy them, fail at the TRUE gaming industry, and go away forever.

AtomicGerbil5502d ago

Really?
Mass Effect 1,2 and 3
Borderlands
Batman AA
Batman AC
Bulletstorm
Bioshock

To name but a few

Soldierone5502d ago

As stated above there are plenty games coming from it. And to take it further developers are already struggling and UE is CHEAP.

GillHarrison5502d ago

I see Microsoft buying Epic before I see Apple doing so. Yet, either is a long way off. Epic makes far too much income from Unreal Engine licensing.

GodsHand5502d ago

Imagine what Apple would make if they owned the rights to the Unreal Engine? It would be like 5x more then what Epic gets, using Apples pricing structure.

smoothdude5501d ago

Google should buy them. Then the Unreal Engine would be free.

iamnsuperman5502d ago

Microsoft did that with bungie and Halo. Apple were going to buy it before Microsoft got in there if apple do they might want to watch out for sneaky microsoft

whydoyouask5502d ago

If Epic could have been bought, it would have been bought be Microsoft ages ago.

Epic does to well to be sold off to anyone.

xVeZx5502d ago

sony has a better chance at buying epic than apple does

Fishy Fingers5502d ago

Apple probably have a lot more money to throw around than Sony. Either way, Epic make their living (mainly) as a middleware engine provider, they wouldnt want to be bought by anyone.

BattleAxe5502d ago

I don't think Sony needs to buy Epic. If Sony were to buy another Studio, it would either be Insomniac or Sucker Punch. It has been rumored that Apple is planning on a big purchase. They apparently have $51 Billion that they are planning to use to buy out a company or maybe several companies. Thats why there were some articles about 6 months ago that were speculation that Apple could be interested in buying Sony.

HeavenlySnipes5502d ago

Insomniac going multi after Resistance 3? Sony should get Sucker Punch though. Then force them to hurry with Sly 4. They've been teasing us by showing 'Sly 4 Now Playing' all over movie theaters in Infamous and even in the InFamous 2 beta.

Rai5502d ago

MS loses its last third party exclusive

tmoss7265502d ago

But Unreal Tournament isnt' 360 exclusive....

Disney Should Buy Fortnite And Epic Games, Former Exec Says

The Walt Disney Company's new CEO, Josh D'Amaro, is a big fan of video games, and one former Disney executive believes D'Amaro would be smart to do even more in gaming going forward. This could include a buyout of a gaming company like Epic Games.

In an interview with CNBC, Kevin Mayer--a former Disney and TikTok executive who now runs Candle Media--said D'Amaro will need to take "bold steps" to help Disney make more money and grow its stock price. One part of this could be doing more in gaming, he said.

Apparently nobody remembers the absolute shitshow that happened when EA brought the Havok engine which was used as the default engine of the 6th generation like UE is used today.

SkilledGamer43d ago

You've got it wrong, EA bought Renderware not Havok. Havok was bought by Intel in 2007 and then Microsoft in 2015

Fishy Fingers43d ago (Edited 43d ago )

Nor was it ever a widely used or considered, game engine, Renderware was. It was and still is a physics/material simulation plugin for the actual game engines.

Profchaos43d ago

Yeah you're right i was thinking of Renderware. But point still stands Renderware was used literally everywhere from games like GTA 3,VC,SA to Sonic games and Tony hawk it was really the default industry wide engine that UE is today.

If Disney takes over Epic and UE we could face a situation where they change the terms of use for other game devs big and small. They could remove the licensing agreements currently in place and impose a payment per download model like Unity did which could cripple the industry.

TOTSUKO43d ago

Fck Disney stock and their shareholders.

blacktiger43d ago

Well I can imagine DIsney with their transgender Snowwhite and black cinderally and mermaid and other garbage. Imagine video games lmao!!!

shinXseijuro43d ago

You sound like a fun person to be around .

Huey_My_D_Long42d ago

Dumbass cant even spell Cinderella but apparently he's upset by the 1997 Cinderella classic starring Brandy. Almost 20 year old movie.
Just say you dont like black people man, we all know it.

rlow143d ago

I really hope this doesn’t happen. They ruin everything that they buy. Terrible company

Zerobalance43d ago (Edited 43d ago )

Trolling. Hope Disney take the Maval characters like Spider-Man and Wolverine away from Sony and make it themselves that would me laugh so hard.

"It is going to get so much worse in the video game industry...This will get worse and going to be bad and it's going to eventually get better." -Greg Miller right before it got worse

Agent7545d ago

Too many games, too many versions, download only games, game pricing, £700+ consoles, eye watering prices for controllers, four formats, gaming is one big mess.

gold_drake45d ago

id argue that epic games has alot of other revenue income other than fortnite, so their reasoning makes zero sense.
