Saving Content - Alan Wake Quasi-Review

Excerpt:

"Alan Wake, I think every Xbox360 owner owes it to themselves to play this game, or at least try. The story is solid and really engages you to keep coming back. I liked the way the chapters are laid out like a TV show, it’s genius in that I felt more involved with the story. Speaking of story, it’s a little out there. You’re a famous novelist who takes a trip to quiet little town with his wife. The plan is to relax and get over his writer’s block; well that’s his wife’s plan anyway, Alan just wants to relax."

the chapters seem to be about the right length. I got it as a digital download for $10 from amazon ($2 game $8 shipping lol). The game is fun and creepy at the same time. I give it a solid 8.

The story is the only interesting thing about Alan Wake. The combat becomes old really fast. And they ran out of ideas so just throw wave after wave of bad guys at you in the end. It looked good and had some good levels, I just feel it was a one trick pony that became repetitive to play.

Story was what kept me playing. Not the actual gameplay.

this game is fantastic!

If you have not played it you are truly missing out. It is not horror, but suspense..something very rare in video games. I also has the creepy twilight zone factor.

Absolutely awesome game! I'm finishing up my second playthrough and getting ready for the third on nightmare.

My favorite game of 2010 for sure, well Mass Effect 2 was up there too, but Alan Wake was amazing. Glad they made their own engine and hopefully that means a sequel can come out sooner.

To anyone who is thinking of getting this game, buy it new. It comes with the first DLC free and you will need to buy the final DLC to actually understand the story 100%.

The wife won't let me play it until my birthday.Grrrrr.

A Late Look: Alan Wake

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "All in all, it’s not hard to see why Alan Wake has received a bit of a cult following (there’s that famous foreshadowing again). It’s a title that blends themes and gameplay, while pushing the limits of storytelling by putting stories within stories and letting you read those stories before you get to that part in… the story. It has flaws, to be sure - the gameplay side can’t quite keep up with the rest of its ambitions - but overall it’s a great game that stands out among its peers and is undeniably… one for the books."

Kind of a goody story...

On a serious note, that is why I try activating gift cards asap. It's happened to me where the store didnt scan it right where the card was unusuable. Happened at Wally World.

gigoran8777d ago

wait, that place is real? national lampoon wasn't kidding?

jznrpg189d ago

People sometimes call Wal-Mart Wally World including myself

I just bought two of the MonsterVerse Godzilla movies on 4K - both had digital copies expiring in 2023. Both were actually expired.

I'd be surprised but it's WB, of course they'd actually expire them

Knightofelemia777d ago

Usually most of those redemption card have an expiry date on them. If they expired all buyer did was buy recycled paper. And some of those codes are country locked to certain countries. I buy a card from the States I can't use it in Canada.

Dumb and silly story. She wasted her money for no reason.

Is it really that hard to go to Steam or GOG. She spent $240, when its currently 70% off on GOG, and only costs $4.49.

Gee, I wonder, should I spend $240 on eBay, or $4.49 on GOG? 🙄

Rynxie777d ago

Most likely she wanted to resell a few or most of them. However, it was a too good to be true situation.

So in short she paid $240.00 assuming usd for a bunch on unactivated game codes.

I still don't understand why I guess cause there's not a physical version and she wanted something for a collection or art project.

Rynxie777d ago

No, most likely to resell. However, she ended up getting screwed.

Asplundh777d ago

This is Alan Wake 1, it had physical copies.
