Battlefield 3 will most likely be the flagship DX11 title. The engine was built from the ground up to support DX11.

Yep. I think we will see a lot more in 2-3 years or whenever next gen arrives. Most devs these days just port from console to PC and if the game does have any DX11 support it is just tacked on so they can say they used it. BF3 is the only one off the top of my head built around it.

Most games are now console ports, I think the next DX(be it 12, 13 or whatever) will only really be used when next gen consoles are out.

At this point Nvidia and AMD are only using DX as a selling point, i would suggest we just ignore them and stop buying new hardware.

They should realise without the software, hardware wont sell either.

2-3 years sounds about right.
But I wouldn't hold my breath for DX 11 for next gen.

We'll likely be using DX 12/13.

When DirectX becomes programmer friendly instead of engineer friendly.

@ComboBreaker
what do you mean ? could you explain more please .

BeastlyRig5539d ago

& whenever stalker 2 comes!

To bad Epic games don't have the balls to move ahead of consoles & use that updated dx11 engine!

Even by then dx12 might be out!

cool19905540d ago

But that doesn't mean that's all DirectX 11 is capable of.

BigKev455540d ago

I'll just wait for super super duper MvsC3.

Is DirectX 9.0c programmer friendly?

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing47d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9247d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit47d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing47d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9247d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
