Weekly Watch April 17, 2011

This week marks the release of some of the most eagerly awaited games this year, including Portal 2, sequel to the Valve’s innovative first person shooter/puzzle game, and Mortal Kombat, which is the ninth game in the series and makes a return to the blood and gore that fans have come to love from the series. On the other end of the spectrum, there’s still some interesting games for the indie fans, such as Aksys Games’ Arcana Heart 3, which is already a cult hit amongst many fighting game fans in the US.

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

DarXyde36d ago

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

Mortal Kombat: Flawless Victory Announced

A new book detailing the artwork of the franchise has been announced

robtion301d ago

Let me fix this title to something less click baity for you:

New Book: Mortal Kombat: Flawless Victory Announced.

Garethvk301d ago (Edited 301d ago )

The description clearly says what it is. It is not like people have to click to the site. They just have to read.

robtion301d ago

Sure they don't have to go to the site but to get to the description they already have to have clicked on it. Thus the term 'click bait'.

Rebel_Scum301d ago (Edited 301d ago )

If its a book say its a book in the article title. Everyone’s gonna think this is a new game and get annoyed reading your description.

Garethvk301d ago (Edited 301d ago )

The Mods had no issues with the title.
The first line under the image says new book and you can see it in the preview windows without even having to click to read the description.

It also says a Visual History on the image.

Rebel_Scum301d ago

On desktop and mobile the text a visual history is not visible in the thumbnail on the homepage.

I grew up on this stuff. Adding it to the art collection!

I do hope the next MK iteration goes back to the core of what made these characters appeal in the first place. A few of them lost their edge - I think I've had enough with some of the auntie designs 😂

Simon's Quest is better than Symphony.

If you're gonna troll, at least make a legitimate attempt.

Levii_92383d ago

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

LG_Fox_Brazil382d ago

That's a pretty fucking great list

__y2jb382d ago (Edited 382d ago )

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.
