Destructoid Preview: Twisted Metal

Destructoid writes: "Oh, you're not ready for Twisted Metal. You think you are, but you're not. You may think that you're prepared, being a fan of this PlayStation and PS2 predecessors, but you're not even close to being prepared. This game is insane. There's a million things happening at once, a million bullets flying your way, and million ways to die. It's pure chaos, but it works. It works beautifully".

THIS GIEF GAME NOW!!!!!!!!!!

I expect another 3.5 - 6 review from this crappy site. Even though this game sounds like its going to be a worthy successor to the twisted metal franchise.

"Excellent game which will have u playing for hours. Great multiplayer fun. Unfortunately gfx are sheet and its not fair that I died more than 3 times during a match. Also too much chaos. So it won't be enjoyed by true gamerzzz! I'm the greatest video game journalist alive! Bow to me Jaffe!" 4/10

See I'm doing a destructoid right now.

undercovrr5514d ago

How is this a crappy site? I think this website is bluntly honest with reviews. Terribly disappointing games deserve a crappy rating (Socom), while amazing games deserve a really high rating. I think you're just pissed off that some ps3 games are getting crappy reviews from this website. News flash...so are pc and 360 games that are sub-par.

DatNJDom815514d ago (Edited 5514d ago )

@undercovrr

Really?

Deadly Premonition. Look it up. Awesome game?

undercovrr5514d ago

Deadly premonition is meant as a joke review. If you took that review seriously then I feel sorry for you

rockleex5514d ago (Edited 5514d ago )

@undercovrr

Yes, that's why Jim Sterling's a troll.

Also the main reason why people no longer view Destructoid as a good source for video game news anymore... if they did in the first place.

I grew up with this series. I still own and play Twisted Metal 2. Epic stuff. I can't wait.

Orange5514d ago

wow, destructoid's enthusiasm over this game is off the charts. it's a little sloppily written...like he was so excited to get it all down that he raced through without editing.

ComboBreaker5514d ago (Edited 5514d ago )

I hope Destructiod doesn't do a 180 and bash it to hell when it comes time to review.

ComboBreaker5514d ago (Edited 5514d ago )

"In all my matches I never had to question steering or braking; it was never an issue. I loved being able to mash the X button to slam on the brakes, turn on a dime, spin around and send a missile right into the windshield of the guy that has been tailing me. That felt great every time. Knowing exactly where you'll turn, skid or stop goes a long way toward making this chaotic game fun, as with so much going on, it could have been a big, sloppy mess. Even the helicopter's controls felt like a lot of thought went into it. Hats off to the Eat Sleep Play on how much polish went into the balance and control in Twisted Metal. Maybe you could meet with some of the modern day fighting game makers and teach them a thing or two."

Wow cyberpunk is a great pick up. If you haven’t played it you should definitely give it a try

Christopher313d ago

Banishers was dragged down by the need to go back to old areas multiple times.

GhostScholar314d ago

Also if you bought it at launch and couldn’t deal with all the bugs it’s a totally different game now

stupidusername314d ago

Played it on release and thought it was a mess. But I'm currently playing it again now on both PS5 and Switch 2 with cross save progression, and it's really different to how I remember it. Really enjoying it now, and it's really polished and immersive.

darthv72314d ago

Despite owning the 2077 One X console and the steelbook edition of the game... i still have never played it. I may actually give 2077 a try (via the portal) as there has been so much talk about it again, thanks to SW2 and now this comparison vid from DF. https://youtu.be/SvGQik3m6a...

dveio314d ago (Edited 314d ago )

I think it's an okay decision or happening.

iirc, wasn't there even a new and probably last update coming soon announced recently?

I've never played 2077, neither. (I am still a bit mad about their ... well, anyway.)

But I think it can't get better to play that game, or any game for that matter, in a 100% complete, fully updated build.

DivineHand125314d ago

Cyberpunk and Risk of rain 2 are the best of the bunch. Not a bad month if you are one of the few that haven't played those games.

yeastori314d ago

Cyberpunk is probably one of the best games I've ever played, even when it came out with all the bugs and glitches and broken gameplay on consoles, I still loved it at its core because the world was exactly what I wanted in a dystopian vision of the real future and the story was actually well done and compelling. With the fixes and then Phantom Liberty I just knew that this game could've been GOTY winner if it hadn't been released too early and released on PS5. XBX and two years later.

shinXseijuro314d ago

Might give cyberpunk a chance now that the game redeemed itself . Is it only the basic game or with the newer content ?

xHeavYx314d ago

According to the article, it's just the base game, but the DLC will be 30% off

TM3 is my favorite but I'll take what they bring out gladly. Fun times back in the day and great soundtracks

Cacabunga596d ago

Last one on ps4 wasn’t good at all.
Hoping for some good reboot or remake of the first 3

Dagexon596d ago

You mean the one on ps3?

Cacabunga596d ago

Yes i do, thanks! I realized too late couldn’t edit

Lego 2K Drive features an exciting mode called Brick Brawl, inspired by Twisted Metal. Players can create, share, and upload various cars, including ones like Sweet Tooth. The game boasts thousands of custom cars, ranging from the Batmobile to the Sweet Tooth ice cream truck.

InUrFoxHole596d ago

Never understood the like for the series. Not my bag but I know a lot of gamers are clamoring for a new game and liked the TV. Series

TiredGamer596d ago (Edited 596d ago )

TM1 and 2 are time period classics. They were a bit rough, ugly, and grungy, but they felt right during the time period they were released and they scratched that early console “death match” itch before FPS games would completely swallow that market.

Many great memories with friends playing couch co-op and 1v1. Short, and quick-and-dirty gameplay that we returned to over and over. I’d buy a remake or proper remastering of the first two games day one.

InUrFoxHole596d ago

Lol, nice! I remember having the tiger handheld or watch..

FinalFantasyFanatic595d ago

I played those so much as I kid, I bought the Twisted Metal games that were on PSN as Playstation Classics, wow, they feel clunky by today's standards, they could really use the remake/remaster treatment.

UltimateOwnage596d ago

Twisted Metal: Black is when the series really hit for me. I still love that game so much. It was kind of downhill for the series after that IMO. I'd love to see the series go back to its roots, but I don't hold out a lot of hope for David Jaffe coming back from where he is these days to oversee development of a competent sequel.

Snookies12596d ago

Black was the pinnacle in my opinion. I adored TM1 and TM2, for sure. But Black brought it to a whole new level of awesome.
