Does Ubisoft care about innovation or about their profits?

DasReviews writes: "The funny thing here is that Ubisoft isn’t taking advantage of all those powerful processors and graphics cards of the PC’s. If Ubisoft wants innovation, they can develop an innovating PC title that will support next-generation features. If Ubisoft cared about innovation and creativity instead of increasing their profits, they wouldn’t keep waiting for those next-generation consoles. Indie developers have shown after all that creativity isn’t restrained by this current generation..."

Considering they don't innovate to begin with...It's obviously their profits. Of course, Ubisoft makes the worst HD Collections.

They innovate once with a new IP to get the audience hooked to new concepts, and then they proceed to milk those IPs, and by extension the concepts, as much as they can.

They operate the same way any capitalistic corporation does. How many corporations do you know that release significantly improved iterations of their products without being told to do so by dropping sales.

It's the risk of losing profits that pushes companies to innovate.

You guys are all trashing on Ubisoft and Activision because they're acting exactly as any corporation would if they were in their position.

It's like torturing a lion for eating a goat.

Well do remember. They did release 2 free AC: B maps.

@dangertick not everything needs trophies/achievements

DangerTick5536d ago

Well do remember. They did release 2 sequences in AC2 which they removed from the game to sell back to people which didn't even include trophies.

I can't sit here and act like I know these workers financial situations. And I'm sure nobody wakes up WANTING to go to court. But for the sake of the industry, I wish some of these types of cases made it to trial.

Settlements allow companies to continue to do whatever abusive practices they do. While the trials (should the company lose) would actually force real changes for the better.

But again, I'm not in these workers shoes and I can understand them not wanting to risk it.
