ME trilogy on other systems. According to the article in Yahoo games, EA owns the rights to ME now (specifically 10 IPs). Does this buyout supercede MS' agreement or vice versa? It seems logical for Bioware to finish ME on the 360, but it is possible for EA to port it later to the PS3 in the wake of ME2 and 3 impending releases? I'm not as interested in the game as I am in the legalities of the deal.

dont post this like it's new news. Ray myzuka or whatever his name is isn't an EA representative nor is he a Microsoft rep, he now works for EA. Microsoft EA and bioware are gonna be in talks in the coming weeks about it.

Like i've said before, it's stupid to think that this focus on the sequels going to ps3 isn't saying something about the first game. It wouldnt make any sense for just ME2 and ME3 to go multiplat. It's an rpg with apparently a very deep story.

EA have recently gone on a 640 million dollar shopping spree for pandemic and Bioware, they're gonna wanna see a lot of return on their new games.

now would you spend a F***k load of money on a megaton of a title and not try to get as much money out of it as possible. EA aren't some random little company. There's gonna be lots more ps3's out there by mid 08, they'll have a team porting ME1 or making something of a foreword to ME2 for ps3 users.

Mass effect sure looks a stunning title, you 360 owners are very lucky to get this from a very respected developer, i'd love to see it on the ps3 but i can't ever see that happening.

I hope it turns out to be a stunnig title and by the looks if it it's going to be just that, a good game is a good game irrespective of format so enjoy !!!

Bioware will remain largely separate from the rest of EA, the way bungie was separate from M$ and Alienware remains separate from Dell. Bioware needs the cash and EA needs a respected games division because they have lost all respect elseware. We may also see a mass exodus from Bioware by the current employees if they feel too much EA presence in the firm. I could see Bio losing all its talent to other studios if they allow EA to wreak havoc with Bio's inner workings. So most likely ME will stay 360 exclusive till the end unless the 360 or ME flops. Ofcoarse if that happens then who cares if it is exclusive or not.

Outside of that, this game is really nothing special. Considering how good Drake is coming along.

I bet MS will pay off EA for securing the game and future installments on the 360, seen the massive amount of positive buzz around Mass Effect and what it'll do for the 360 in hardware sales this Christmas

I have to say that while I’m a 360 owner only at this moment and this game is a definite blip on my radar as it is shaping up to be a damn good game I have to first disagree that it is all hype. If you have followed the news, screenshots, interviews, etc. this game is definitely something to pay attention to. Is it a system seller or anything like that? Nah, it’s not a proven name yet, but it will sell well to current owners.

BUT if I was a PS3 owner I would actually be thankful for this not coming to the Playstation. While this game has some deep potential, what PS3 owner in their right mind would want another piece of junk EA port? That does nothing but drag the systems name in the dirt more when the reviews come out and bias the 360 version over the PS3. And it definitely would be fuel for the PS3 nay Sayers.

Hey, it's this simple... you have a 360 you can play mass effect. If you don't have one you can't play it. Trying to predict the future isn't going to change anything because no one knows what's going to happen with the sequels. You wanna play it just buy a 360.

It'll probably stay on the 360 cause M$ will put a sh!tload of money on EA's pocket, but that also may not happen.

MS's gaming division has been pushing the stock owners limits for quite some year now, so they can't just sprout out money everytime they want a new exclusive game.

It's kind of strange that Microsoft let Bioware fall into EA's hands don't you think? they definitely have the bankroll to buy bioware. It doesn't seem like Microsoft gave EA a fight for Bioware. But Microsoft buys companies like RARE, 007 Goldeneye was RARE's last good game that was 10 years ago.

Everybody can speculate all they want but the truth is nobody knows. Bioware says it will be 360 only but EA can now change that, it may be a year or two away but if the game is selling like crazy on the 360, EA will bet the same thing will happen on the PS3. MS can make an offer to them as the TheMART mentioned above, but EA certainly isn't hard up for cash, so I doubt they would except, especially when they so need good PR and a payoff by MS would make them look real bad. It certainly didn't look good when Take2 did it and they needed the money. Mass Effect may or may not come to the PS3, if it did I would buy it and so would a good bit of people, it does have an extremely interesting story and gameplay. If the subsequent games in the trilogy are more than likely coming to the PS3 you can count on the first one also making it's way over as well. It wouldn't make sense to have two parts of a trilogy and you can bet EA of all companies wants to continue mulitplatform releases so they can keep rolling in dough whether gamers do or do not like them, your still buying their games no matter what system they are on. Oh and let's not forget that Burnout Paradise was built on the PS3 so EA doesn't just release crap games or ports.
