Minecra... What? This Needs an Explanation.

I found myself scratching my head as I saw an influx of news articles talking about this 1990's-looking block parade called Minecraft. I just had to figure out what the deal with this game is, and why so many people care about a pixilated world. What I found out before trying the game myself is that incredibly this game has pre-sold nearly 2 million copies, and over 6 million people have tried the game!

This is probably the worst game review I've ever seen. You played the free version of creative mode, which is nothing like the game being sold. What you played was a sandbox, yet you compared it to the actual game and went as far as not recommending the full version.

You reviewed something that can't even count as a demo.

dry_ice5515d ago

The full version was explained along side and it was mentioned that the full game has other features.

If you're going to try to tell me the full version is vastly different you're delusional.

The core of the game was shown and indicated as such.

Also, note that this is not a review but rather a reaction. Look at the "article" tag, and don't be so defensive.

If you enjoy the game all power to you. From the videos and time I spent playing it I was not impressed.

You're right, it can't count as a demo, it's the complete core game from which the beta was built upon...

In a way, it's like comparing Garry's mod to Half Life. I respect your point, and I apologize for the defensive sounding reaction, but the creative mode is a pre-alpha release that was made free to the public to demonstrate the world building and map generation.

The actual game is about survival. You can't just rip through blocks in a matter of moments, and the time investment and resource-gathering required to build things offers a sense of pride. In the creative mode you played, you are invincible and can spawn anything you like into existence.

Also, I didn't notice that the submission was marked as an article, so again, I apologize. However, I will hold fast that the survival mode is absolutely nothing like the mode you played, and immense popularity aside, is something that both hardcore and casual gamers can enjoy.

Well, like I said the game is very successful and I'm sure it does some things right.

Coming from an avid gamers first impressions the game really disappointed me. The gameplay just felt terrible, and putting over a hour in to try to understand the game was like pulling teeth.

In all honesty I held back only due to the facts that I had only seen videos of the full game and the game is so largely successful already.

For your average gamer I think they need not worry about this game, but I did encourage those intrigued to give it a go.

While I don't doubt the game has it's good aspects, my first (and last) 1-2 hours with this game were rough. That's my impression anyway... feel free to disagree.

I know I'm against 2 million already, but I felt I gave the game a fair enough shot to at least peak my interest. Honestly I was more interested by the hype and let down by the overall look/feel of the game.

Dude, it's $15. That's about the price of a COD map pack, and it's far better value than one of those. At the very least you should check out the full game, it's actually kinda addictive if you're the creative type.

"If you're going to try to tell me the full version is vastly different you're delusional."

It IS vastly different. Look at the sheer amount of additions over classic. Classic was dropped and beta is adding things constantly each week, not to mention the amount of user mod additions to the game.

I can sincerely say that for those that I known that played classic mode didn't like the game, UNTIL I allowed them to play the actual game which was vastly different from what they've experienced, and thus got them interested into the game.

One of the major situations? You don't have the survival with the classical mode.

Not only that, but then you went off to this statement:

"You're right, it can't count as a demo, it's the complete core game from which the beta was built upon..."

I mean really sir, how can anyone take you seriously if you can't take the time to even take the stuff YOU do seriously?

He played classic. Beta is completely different. Its like playing a FPS with no weapons or enemies.

Before you make a review, play the full version.

Stop disagreeing with all those who have proven you wrong Ice.

I used to buy cheap games thinking I’d play them later, but I always ended up returning to my favorites. Now I skip the deals unless I know I’ll play the game soon.

Lionsguard60d ago

This is very true, my nephews grew up on these two games and whenever I introduce them a AAA game whether old or new, it's like seeing an alien try to make sense of it and then quickly lose interest in it.

Can’t really expect a 8 year old Roblox kid to go buy resident evil 9 lol

Gaming trends are so weird to me now. Like, I’m old school and games were consumed essentially how movies were. You play through a title and look forward to the sequel or other things that came out. Now, that is so not the norm.
