Sony still Supporting PSP after NGP Launch

Sony will continue to provide support for the PSP, even after the launch of their NGP. As of yet, it seems like the PSP legacy will continue to go on.

However, some fans believe that first party game developing is guaranteed to shift entirely from the PSP to the NGP. This is because most developers do not want to produce for a system that is so easy to pirate (PSP) when they can move to a new fortress (NGP) with plenty of security...

This si to be expected considering their past.
PS1 classics, digital comics, PS Minis, and some devs will make PSN titles because those will also be compatibile with the NGP if they dont want to just hit the NGP market.

Sure, this may not sound like the most promising way to keep the PSP alive, but it is still something.

There still may be the odd PSp game in development as well.

This is great for the people who won't be able to buy the NGP at launch.

like an unwanted child after NGP? remember PS1 and PS2? this should come with no surprise as PSP is still the best selling hardware in Japan at least at the moment!

I can't see them or other publishers still printing on UMD if the NGP takes off. Its all going to be DDL.

Sony is the best company in the world. I call it alien civilization!

they aren't' like Microsoft who left the xbox 1 fanbase in the dust when they launched the Xbox 360.

ps1

launched 1995 and discontinued in 2006(11 years)

ps2

launched 2000 and is still on shelves(11 years)

ps3

launched in 2006 and is still on shelves(almost 5 years)

psp

launched in 2004 and is still on shelves(7 years)

that's why i always trust Sony. love Nintendo games and kinda so-so with xbox, but PlayStation is irreplaceable to me.

Also, Sony still support ps1 and ps2 games by releasing them on PSN or HD remakes.

Maybe i'm sound a bit fanboy by saying this, but gamers will not dissapointed if they have Sony's console in their house ^^

I wouldn't even call it "supported" right now. Unless you mean life supported.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle28d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments
