This is a dry one laugh joke. It's funny for a few seconds and then that's it. It's so not funny anymore, the more you think about it, the less funny it is.

Moving parts reside inside of most computer hardware setups. I once put together an entire pc without fans, and at the sate time increased the ventelation by using convection currents that were building inside of the system to create "thermal zones". It was a nice mini iTX mobo (Via Eden platform) and used a low power CPU, as well as a form factor that alowed it fit inside of Shuttle PC boxes.

360 is by no means an aural offender. Any optical drive when accessing will bring in the decibles. Some conceal this noise very efficiently, some use "acustic management" to maintain noise levels. Some are made out of sound reverberation-proof materials. I think there's more hot air comes from fanboys, flamers and haters than the rear of my console...and that's saying a lot!

Well as a sort of testimony my first 360 had an acceptable level of noise but ok at the end...my second one is loud as jet engine even even worse the longer you play which leads me to believe MS might had increased the speed of the fans too (well at least mine and some people I know)

but at least I know that the harder the fan works the more cooling my 360 gets so it wont die...AGAIN >.>

360's were loud but the new ones with the ZYPHER board and 2nd heatsink are better my ELITE and my son's PRO are both MFD 9/07 and just a little louder then a PS3 and the RROD were because the video cables were unpluged.

Depends what you got under the hood so to speak. My new 360 isn't as loud as my old one the fans in general and older disc drives do make noise at times but unless you're hiding your gaming session for one reason or another" the console should be hooked up to a 5.1 system. lol

I know certain DVD drives in the 360s are loud but I think a lot of the newer 360s don't use those drives. The weird thing is I have one of those 360s with the loud DVD drive and it doesn't sound like this guys console. I'm not saying this video is fake but... that sure was loud.

if you are deaf you wont know the difference. My friend Don is "hearing impaired" (being P.C) and he is able to play through some of the most dialog intensive games around.

There needs to be more consideration to the deaf from developers. Start having more CC options in games.

This was funny about 6 months ago when it was originally posted. Of course anyone with half a brain cell knows that the 360 doesn't even start up fully when the audio/video cables aren't plugged in as shown in this vid and hence doesn't make any noise.

Yes, the 360 is loud. However, if you play a game or movie in the PS3 it gets really loud and hot and damn hot. So hot during one blu-ray movie viewing it told me to turn it off because it was over heating. That’s awesome!

I am going to be honest, I'm not sure why people still dislike the PS3 when

A. The console performs and looks outstanding
B. Great games are out, and more are coming nonstop through 2008.
C. The reliability is second to none in the console world.
D. The price has come down, and is more affordable.
E. If you're worried about storage space, you can upgrade your harddrive without spending a lot of cash, i.e. any SATA 2.5 harddrive (or 3.5 if you don't mind it hanging out the back).

I still plan on buying a 360 when ALL the issues are fixed, but why deny the PS3?

After I got mine back from the repair shop in August is has been very quiet. I don't notice it going into warp drive anymore during loading screens like my near launch unit did.

My 360 is the same dB (noise level) as my pc when I am playing a disk.
I have never heard any1 complain about the pc being 2 loud. And to the goon that says there are plenty of great games on the waitstation, well I guess there are a few decent ones I can't think of but 1 now but whatever. The 360 has such a advantage in the games department. Why do you think the attach rate is so high.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.
