The Hidden for the Nintendo 3DS has been announced by Majesco today.
Expected for release this fall, The Hidden is an augmented reality game that sees players hunting for paranormal activity in real-world environments using the Nintendo 3DS camera.
"Say what you will about the wholly unoriginal name, the ideas explored in The Hidden grab your interest fairly easily. Forcing you to suspend your disbelief of having evil creatures roam around the air around you, The Hidden makes use of augmented reality in hopes of creating an immersive experience. And with the 3D Screen serving as a contributing role for such a feeling in past projects, it probably seemed like things were working in the game's favor. NWR: A game that should have stayed hidden.
I don't know where to begin with this travesty of a game. What started out as an interesting concept could not possibly have gone any more wrong.
The Hidden advertises itself as “an Augmented Reality ghost hunting adventure”, putting you in the position of a new recruit at the Ghostly Entity Investigation and Strike Team (G.E.I.S.T.). The idea is that you can wander around the streets “patrolling” for paranormal activity, with your 3DS camera giving you the ability to see beyond our plane of existence as you search for “shades”.
