
SPOnG: I must have spent a million and one hours as a youngster playing Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat II with my brother. We didn’t really know any fatalities, we simply sat there all day abusing one another virtually and laughing hysterically at the over-the-top animated violence that took place. Actually, thinking about it, it’s a wonder I haven’t turned into a mass-murderer yet.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

I do hope the next MK iteration goes back to the core of what made these characters appeal in the first place. A few of them lost their edge - I think I've had enough with some of the auntie designs 😂
