16bitmonster: Now that Resistance 3 video clips are floating around the net so I couldn’t help myself to start comparing the two Sony heavyweights first person shooters (exclusives).
As PlayStation celebrates its 30th anniversary, let's explore the best PlayStation games Sony has to offer.

PS1 era was full of great RPGs, PS2 was racing generation i would pick top 200 and even that would be just a fraction.
30 is way too low over the entire history of Playstation, I just wouldn't be able to narrow it down that much, I would pick 100 at least.
Yeah...really odd list. I get that it is personal preference and I love most of the games listed, but my list would definitely be different. I agree though, it would be incredibly difficult to come up with just 30.

killzone 2 and 3 outshined Resistance 2 and 3 for me in every aspect.
I absolutely adored Resistance 3 but they do not NEED to remake this game. They should do something that they enjoy and if it is Resistance then so be it.
Not a classic in my opinion ; a pretty mediocre PS3 shooter as far as I'm concerned, not bad, not the worst of the trilogy, but certainly not great. Killzone 2 was miles ahead of it (and of most FPSs even today as far as I'm concerned).

Resistance 1 will always be GOATed for me.
I remember playing all night on multiplayer. Such a fun game.
killzone was amazing but resistance was great as well. althpugh theybwrre both fps, I think that served different purposes.
Although I agree on original games and creativity over licensed IP, especially something like Ghost of Tsushima. But Sony's looking at that series selling less and less overall with the 3rd estimated to not even sell 2 million. Gamers who say they loved it didn't really buy it.
While Spiderman the series has sold over 50 million not counting PC. And Spider-Man 2 is over 11 million so far. If you had their business and had to make their decisions, what would you do in their shoes?

Umm, that's exactly my point lol. Insomniac made great, original IP games and people didn't buy them because they were too busy lapping up yearly CODs and Assassin's Creeds, so naturally Sony/Insomniac had to pivot to something else.

I respect your opinion but strongly disagree.
I'll start with what I didn't like about 3:
- OK, Nathan Hale is gone but new player character totally forgettable. Can't even remember their name.
- Awful forced in 3D. Just look at KZ3 for 3D done well.
- Online multiplayer that paled in comparison to 1 and 2. Put hundreds of hours into the first two. Probably less than 10 hours into 3.
- Campaign was OK but I played the other two more, especially 1.
1 had my favorite gunplay of the trilogy (no need for COD iron sight) so I guess my worst would be 2. At least 3 wrapped up the storyline, supported the move controller and had prettier graphics. But in my book, none of the three really stood out. From that era, I prefered Singularity for example and obviously Killzone 2.
I wish they'd bring back the Resistance 2 multiplayer. God that co-op was so much fun.

Same. They nailed it with Horizon. The trouble is I also want a new Killzone! Can't I just have it all?!
I have yet to play Burning Shores as I just started Forbidden West (bought at launch, just unwrapped last weekend LOL) and playing on PS5.
man...I still can't believe the graphics especially now I'm playing it on my LG OLED. that graphics and with stable performance backing it up, GG really is the master of their craft!
32.7M sales in the Horizon franchise! With 8.4M coming from Forbidden West alone! Truly a hugely successful game and franchise as a whole. Looking forward to Horizon III

It's been 3 games, this includes Call of the Mountain. Also no, its a great improvement over HZD.

We will see if it surpass original number.

Yooo, when I first saw that Killzone 1 footage at E3, my friends my brothers and I were like, Holy shit! When it came out, it didn't look exactly like it, but we sunk so many hours into 1 & 2.
I even liked Killzone: SF, it was a spectacle to look at, and even today it looks good. I hope they make a new one. Can you imagine how that will look, and they can get some modern FPS pointers from Bungie.
Such a wonderful studio. They deserve all their success.
The Decima Engine is absolute 🔥 I'm just mad they have abandoned Killzone.
They are probably working on mutiple projects. One of them is Horizon 3, but another is a multiplaer game and probably somehting else.
I always though Resistance FOM multiplayer as one of the PS3 finests, lets hope they can replicate it

Killzone 3 is a pure example of why even the best looking graphical games don't sell. Resistance series is a far better game without the graphics. I don't even see anyone on my PSN buddy list playing KZ3 anymore. Just take away the "Sony" logo on the title and I'm sure this would get 100 agrees.
Already said on what appears to be the same article that I commented on yesterday that they have quite different multiplayer experiences so I don't see the point in pitting them against each other as nothing can be learned from it
The multiplayer in Resistance is really the only multiplayer I invested a lot in. But I liked killzone 3's too.
Both just look like COD now, so I'd say Duke Nukem Forever.
