SPOnG: Mass Effect 2: Arrival Review

SPOnG wishes they could load every copy of this DLC and fire it down a mass relay into the galactic core. That’s pretty much the only use for it. If only digital content worked that way.

Totally agree with the score, i thought it was a horrible end to the DLC saga for ME2. Its funny that the main game is so amazing all of ME2's DLC hasn't been that fantastic, Lair of the Shadow Broker was the best and even that story ended too fast.

Miths5522d ago

It certainly wasn't Lair of the Shadow Broker quality (that DLC was just amazing, particularly if you had a past relationship with Liara to carry on), but a ~2/10?!
I would probably give Arrival a 6/10 - possibly even a 7 if I was being generous.

Considering Arrival is the final piece of DLC for Mass Effect 2, it's a disappointment, but it wasn't exactly terrible either...

I mean, 2/10 is a far worse score than what was given to Dark Void or Alpha Protocol... Give me a break.

I'd give it a 6/10.

Bro missing companions: Legion, Grunt, Samara/Morinth, Javik, EDI

anast522d ago

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast522d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman522d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast522d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave770d ago (Edited 770d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
