Even the Game Boy Colour?

rabidpancakeburglar5573d ago

Dunno why you got a disagree, it made me laugh

lociefer5573d ago

do we really want that garbage engine on all platforms? i admit it got some good games but comon, i dont want all my games to look blocky-like

kaveti66165573d ago

loceifer, you don't know much.

Stop posting about things you don't know.

And stop regurgitating the same statements from other people on this site, because they don't know either.

lociefer5573d ago

ya i dnt know much, i just happen to game alot and i know wch engine looks good and wch one looks ass, so stop defending it and just push developers to make new and better engines

Menech5573d ago (Edited 5573d ago )

First of all lociefer, stop using text chat it's an extremely bad habit this is the interwebs not a text message.

And secondly a engine has very little to do with how the game looks. Of course there are some trade marks like the texture pop-ins on unreal 3.

But that's also the secret to it's success, there's a reason most of the talented game studio's in the world use Unreal 3.

Because it's extremely flexible, and great for developers. Also the Unreal 3 engine looks just fine unless your a muppet who has no PC gaming experience.

Thecraft19895573d ago

lociefer stop talking shit UE3 may have few drawbacks but its still the best engine to use on consoles when making multiplatform games.

Not to add the fact that some of the best games this gen and some good looking ones use the engine.

Iroquois_Pliskin5573d ago

true what happened to the epic Unreal Tournment?

kaveti66165573d ago

Developers use Unreal Engine because it's a cheaper solution than creating a proprietary engine.

Unreal Engine is extremely versatile and supports all kinds of third party alternative software such as for lighting and physics.

Since games are expensive to make, it UE is a fantastic option for studios who are on a tight budget.

The various bugs associated with UE are not unique to UE.

Texture pop-in is something I have begun to notice in all kinds of games, including heavy-hitters like Uncharted and Killzone.

As far as visuals, Unreal Engine is extremely verstatile.

If I hadn't read about Mirror's Edge online, I would never have guess that it runs on Unreal Engine.

Same with Bioshock.

No thanks. I'd rather have game engines that don't suck. No need for those garbage engines from Epic & Crytek.

Rearden5573d ago

Care to clarify how they "suck"?

Godmars2905573d ago

Epic's was literally broken at the beginning of this console cycle, and Crytek is just over rated.

Menech5573d ago

Godmars290,

He asked for someone to clarify why, not for someone to speak out there ass when they don't understand the slightest about game engines.

SMOK3xFFx5573d ago

@rearden

Unreal Engine sucks because...
1) Cliffy B is associated with it and "they" are still hurting over him.
2) It is used to make Gears 1/2/3 360 exclusives "they" don't get to play.
3) Because the Samaritan demo has "them" worried about next-gen.

CryEngine sucks because...
1) It has produced Crysis 2 which is constantly being compared to "their" best looking game in terms of graphics.
2) It will be used to develop Codename Kingdoms which "they" won't be able to play.

Silly gameAr5573d ago (Edited 5573d ago )

Man SMOK3

So THEY run YOUR life huh? I'm sure with the games THEY have coming, that YOUR life will be get better. Must suck living in THEIR shadow.

Ducky5573d ago (Edited 5573d ago )

You'd rather have engines that blow?
O.o

This is the engine that has been used by games such as ArkhamAsylum, Bioshock, Borderlands and MassEffect.
So, a little respect, please.

taokaka135573d ago

unreal engine for the SNES confirmed.

MGRogue20175573d ago (Edited 5573d ago )

Well, It's already available for the Sony NGP.

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Pretty impressive stuff..

Stealth20k5573d ago (Edited 5573d ago )

no thanks. Game engines are the death of originality

more infinity blade? HAHAHA no thanks. No one should play shovelware like that

And its on the ngp in an extremely limited form. The ngp is between a psp and ps3 in capability.

tdrules5573d ago

"Game engines are the death of originality"
wait

what.

you do know using third party engines allows for more creativity right?
see Crysis.

Baka-akaB5573d ago (Edited 5573d ago )

There hasnt been much yet on the cryengine game front , outside of outstanding mods .

Cryengine 1 resulted in not so well optimized Aion experience (everyone , even high end users had to drop the settings to the lewet details to properly play pvp) .

Cryengine 2 got well almost nothing ... in fact most cryengine 2 projects dropped it for the next version

And with CRy3 fairly new yet more optimized , it's promising , but still nothing major yet .

Of course aside from Crytek's own games , and again outstanding mods

ApocalypseShadow5573d ago (Edited 5573d ago )

i agree.

but i'm thinking you mean commercialized engines.

i rather like the game engines that take advantage of the hardware like sony's in house developers.

the problem is when ONE company wants to make a buck and monopolize the industry.i remember when renderware was used heavily.then EA bought criterion and captured renderware.because of that, everyone ran to unreal as a solution.and dropped renderware.

specialized engines are the creative ones.

Disney Should Buy Fortnite And Epic Games, Former Exec Says

The Walt Disney Company's new CEO, Josh D'Amaro, is a big fan of video games, and one former Disney executive believes D'Amaro would be smart to do even more in gaming going forward. This could include a buyout of a gaming company like Epic Games.

In an interview with CNBC, Kevin Mayer--a former Disney and TikTok executive who now runs Candle Media--said D'Amaro will need to take "bold steps" to help Disney make more money and grow its stock price. One part of this could be doing more in gaming, he said.

Apparently nobody remembers the absolute shitshow that happened when EA brought the Havok engine which was used as the default engine of the 6th generation like UE is used today.

SkilledGamer96d ago

You've got it wrong, EA bought Renderware not Havok. Havok was bought by Intel in 2007 and then Microsoft in 2015

Fishy Fingers96d ago (Edited 96d ago )

Nor was it ever a widely used or considered, game engine, Renderware was. It was and still is a physics/material simulation plugin for the actual game engines.

Profchaos96d ago

Yeah you're right i was thinking of Renderware. But point still stands Renderware was used literally everywhere from games like GTA 3,VC,SA to Sonic games and Tony hawk it was really the default industry wide engine that UE is today.

If Disney takes over Epic and UE we could face a situation where they change the terms of use for other game devs big and small. They could remove the licensing agreements currently in place and impose a payment per download model like Unity did which could cripple the industry.

TOTSUKO96d ago

Fck Disney stock and their shareholders.

blacktiger96d ago

Well I can imagine DIsney with their transgender Snowwhite and black cinderally and mermaid and other garbage. Imagine video games lmao!!!

shinXseijuro96d ago

You sound like a fun person to be around .

Huey_My_D_Long95d ago

Dumbass cant even spell Cinderella but apparently he's upset by the 1997 Cinderella classic starring Brandy. Almost 20 year old movie.
Just say you dont like black people man, we all know it.

rlow196d ago

I really hope this doesn’t happen. They ruin everything that they buy. Terrible company

Zerobalance96d ago (Edited 96d ago )

Trolling. Hope Disney take the Maval characters like Spider-Man and Wolverine away from Sony and make it themselves that would me laugh so hard.

"It is going to get so much worse in the video game industry...This will get worse and going to be bad and it's going to eventually get better." -Greg Miller right before it got worse

Agent7598d ago

Too many games, too many versions, download only games, game pricing, £700+ consoles, eye watering prices for controllers, four formats, gaming is one big mess.

gold_drake98d ago

id argue that epic games has alot of other revenue income other than fortnite, so their reasoning makes zero sense.
