Rarely has a sequel been as important as Capcom's Resident Evil 5. This being the first true next-gen offering, set for release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in late 2008 or early 2009. The new Resident Evil really does promise be one of the games by which the next-generation is measured, with extreme levels of detail, realistic characterisation and lashings of atmosphere promised.
The game is going to have to deliver far more than just sharper, more detailed locales. Indeed, such is the weight of expectation that there was nigh on a revolt among PlayStation fans when the publisher admitted the game was also bound for the Xbox 360 console.
Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and Xbox 360 gamers won't be worrying about Capcom's impudence, instead, they'll be salivating over the emergence of this series on their machine.

Circana data shows Resident Evil 5 as the best selling Resident Evil game in the US, ahead of Resident Evil 4 remake and Village.
So the most successful RE is the one where a white man is killing Africans.
This can't be real.

New leaks from Dusk Golem detail cancelled Resident Evil projects, including a Rebecca focused Revelations game, while stating no Resident Evil 5 remake is in development.
Capcom's willingness to invest in experiments and scrap them sets them apart form many other developers (Nintendo have a similar methodology). Far too often companies push a game setting or game mechanic that is just not that good and the final product is middling or poor.

Dusk Golem claims a Resident Evil 5 remake is not coming this year, with a Code Veronica remake expected instead.
Hopefully if and when they do a RE5 remake, they give it the RE3 remake treatment, because this is certainly one title that I don't want a faithful remake of.
what happened to continuing the story where part 4 left off?
It should come out in 2009 and that would be more fitting because 2008 already has way too many AAA titles battling each other for Game Of The Year.
The big names in 2008 are Burnout Paradise, Killzone 2, GTA IV, Little Big Planet, GT 5, Ninja Gaiden 2 and the big one of them all, Metal Gear Solid 4. But 2009 has two Final Fantasy games and more that have yet to be confirmed but it will still be a big seller on both platforms.
2009 will mark thecoming of the enxt box... might be a bad time for late adopters haahaah~ Anyways, I'm not excited about this one. Haven't liked Resident Evl since the 2nd one. I went bak and really ejoyed the 3rd one and tolerated Code veronica and hated, hated hated all the gamecube remakes and such... RE 4 was s bad I didnt even finish it. I got to the big water monster and shok my head. Beat it and then go o a giant troll that looked like he Balrog or whatever from Lordof the Rings. th monster in the tomb they fought. It was a joke.
