Homecoming wasn't a bad game. I'd rank it somewhere in the middle among the rest of the series.

If you're only playing what your TV and review sites tell you are "good" games, then you're missing out on a lot of fun games.

Deadly Premonition was TERRRIBLE but thats what made it so awesome...that and its the game version of twin peaks

Venetica is charming in its own little way and Knights Contract is nothing more than a Devil may cry clone which there is never anything wrong with

call of duty on the other hand shouldn't be liked but it is even tho its the same every year....and grand theft auto should be forgotten about and im glad Rockstar finally realized they can make awesome games that dont involve teaching children how to drug deal take drugs buy prostitutes and beat women

Game Stop bottom shelf, all those games are less than $10. If you don't like them, oh well, you might find one you like.

Also I have been enjoying the Game Operation Darkness, and it is absolute rubbish.

If you get enjoyment out of it then it isn't bad

Lead and Gold and Section 8 are a couple of my guilty pleasures. I want Earth Defense Force 2017 so so bad now. Damn CGR

Maybe, I actually liked haze. The throwing knife in online mode was freaking awesome.

But Silent hill homecoming was the first time I've ever rage thrown a controller with a solid 5 minutes of loud swearing and vowing never to touch the game again. And I'm a big silent hill fan.

A lot of my favorite games aren't considered "critical darlings."

Shadow of Destiny, Second Sight, just recently I started playing Deadly Premonition, and I'm enjoying it greatly, despite it being a pretty mediocre game.

There is this ridiculous expectation of excellence with the gaming community this generation, and it's really disturbing to me.

The fact that an 8/10 is considered "mediocre" this generation is a testament to this twisted mentality.

If I had my way, I'd do away with letter and number scores altogether, and actually force people to read the TEXT of the review.

Many a review this gen had rather positive, praising text, only to baffle us by giving the game a low number score. Or even the opposite, where the text is FILLED with negatives (see, Dan Hsue's infamous Gears of War review), but the score is improbably high.

I don't bother to put scores on my reviews, but instead, I grade on a Rent/Buy/Pass scale. Ultimately, that's all readers want to know these days: "Should I buy this game, rent this game, or pass on this game altogether?"

Why complicate things with numbers that could be interpreted any kind of way?

An example of a "Buy" game would be Uncharted 2 or Demon's Souls.

An example of a "Rent" game would be Deadly Premonition (i rented it through gamefly, and have decided to buy it from Amazon, since it's only $11 there), or Haze.

An example of a "Pass" game would be Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime.

I think the "Buy/Rent/Pass" scale is so clear and easy to understand that I can't imagine preferring a number scale over it.

But hey, sites need their hits, so lets slap a 6/10 onto LittleBigPlanet 2 and watch the rage hits roll in!

If a reviewer doesn't care much for a game (say, LBP2), they can always slap a "Rent" or "Pass" on it, which gets their view of the game across rather well, instead of putting a 6/10 score, which is, in truth, rather insulting to the developers at Media Molecule, who clearly put more than a 6/10 effort into the development of the game. Yes, you didn't like the game, but is it REALLY a 6/10? See how arguable that is?

Informing a reader to "Rent the game if you are into the genre," is much more helpful to the reader than a 6/10. But that's just me, I guess.

I think we can all agree that there is at the very least, a set of basic standards that we can all agree on when it comes to what is at least a playable game.

However, the very concept of a "bad game" is absolutely suggestive, once the criteria for said basics has been filled. Again, those basics can be debated but the rest is up to each gamer.

Not at all there are a ton of people who enjoy bad games.

if you're having fun with the game, who gives a stuff what everybody else thinks?
unless of course it's a multiplayer game, then other people's opinion of the game might affect your ability to play. :)

but other than not being able to find other players to play with or against, i would say if you enjoy it, then keep enjoying it.

I'm enjoy playing Homecoming that...a lot people said "the worst silent hill ever!"
