Despite the all the advertisements and anticipation, it has been a fairly quiet month for the Sony NGP. The majority of press buzz has been focused on the release of the iPad 2 and 3DS, so another PSP-styled device has been met with dividing opinions. Ngmoco and other social game centric groups have dismissed the NGP in light of the competing iOS mobile gaming devices.
Neil Young, CEO for Ngmoco said the NGP was “dead on arrival” and the PSP was already finished. According to Neil, it is incredibly difficult to compete with an application store (iOS) that holds numerous options where the average price is only $1.20. In addition, there a tens of thousands of free editions and trials that are very high quality. Neil Young thinks that Sony will not be able to compete with that type of availability.

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

Xbox boss Asha Sharma has discussed how component shortages will impact the company's plans for Project Helix.
This kind of proves this is an after thought product, most products like this are in r&d 5 years before they start mass producing. So they typically have the cost of components and things worked out long before assembly starts.
This is an assumption still, but I wouldn’t be surprised if project helix is similar to Scalebound, perfect dark and sod3. They had an idea but no actual execution other than concept stage. Being impacted by the ram shortage likely would also put this device 3-4 years out.
I’m not even sure MS has that endurance with Xbox yet
Helix is going to be stupidly expensive
Instead of leaning into smarter upscaling techniques they're brute forcing hardware that will cost them dearly and it remains to be seen if it's genuinely going to provide a meaningful differential
I know in the oc.doace people like to brag about not using frame gen or dlss to get to high on a game but for the majority of players they happily use those technologies without a second thought
That's going to be ps6 vs Helix
It's called systematic inflationary. Yes we get it Microsoft, keep raising in the name ofall kinds of stuffs
Honestly if there was thing I learned from this generation is that new consoles arnt day one anymore.
I can wait 1-3 years.

FuRyu revealed on Friday its Exstetra fantasy role-playing game is getting an HD remaster that will launch this summer on Steam.
I don't care. I'm buying it.
So... Ngmoco. They make games for touchscreen mobile devices, not gaming handhelds.
I wonder if Neil knows that the best selling games on the PSP (GTA: LCS, etc.) outgrossed the best selling games on the App store by about a 20-to-1 margin, and that the average gross income of a PSP game is like 30x as much as the average iOS game, yet only costs about 10x as much to develop? Or that there are nearly as many PSPs in the world as there are iPod touch? That there are more DSes in the world than iPod touch and iPhones combined?
This guy's statement has "personal agenda" written all over it. He wants gaming handhelds to go away, because he thinks it'll help his business.
I'm just hoping that the doesn't abandon older style gaming like the PS3 and 360 seem to of have.
this is an old article that's being rehash.
already discuss weeks ago.
The NGP will not be dead on arrival, everybody that's seen it has fallen in love with it. Right now, Im playing my 3DS as I eagerly await my new handheld to accompany it :)
