Ultimate Handheld coming this year!!!
Day F''' ONE!!!!

mattfong5533d ago

It's a long time to wait, I've got my 3DS probably gonna get a iPad2 LOL ... how many handheld gaming devices will need.

Ducky5533d ago (Edited 5533d ago )

As many as it takes to empty your wallet... assuming you don't run out of limbs.
Might be hard as those things seem to cost an arm and a leg to begin with.

I will get one because i want one. As for it being the ultimate....that part is subjective. Many have tried and none have succeeded to be the ultimate. I dont think that will ever really come out but the NGP is another step up the ladder.

My ideal ultimate handheld should also double as a full fledged console. Plug it in and play high quality games and then take it with you when you want to travel. So far there have only been a few I can think of that "officially" supported the stay and play and take it with you approach.

The turboexpress wasnt so much a console but it did offer up the first portable to play the same media as the console. But it was a two part setup. No real plug it in and play on tv.

You then had the Nomad which was a portable genesis. It really was similar to the turboexpress in that it could play the same games as the console while doubling as a console itself. No way to hook up the sega cd or 32x (officially) but it did allow for two player connected to a tv.

The only other one i can think of is the PSP. The original could be modified to sit on a special base that allowed for tv out and a ps2 controller hooked up but it wasnt official until the go was released. Yes the 2000/3000 could be hooked up to a tv but there was no controller to be connected except for the resistance game that allowed you to link it to a ps3 for use with the sixaxis. I guess you could hold the psp in your hand and use it as the controller...silly me for forgetting that.

The go, you could set it in an official base that hooked to a tv and you can synch a sixaxis controller directly to it and play games on the tv. Then pop it off the base and keep playing. It is likely the NGP will follow the same path and I hope it does.

Ultimate...there would be no other hardware to buy. PERIOD!. It is all self contained and plays on the go or hooked to a tv and the quality of games would truly be consided next gen as we are having now. Full 1080p or at least 720p for games and media and everything in between.

Wow that was long to type...sorry.

You only need the one who can play the best games with the best features... and i think it's not the 3ds or the ipad2.

Jio5533d ago

There is no ultimate handheld. In my opinion, all handhelds are awesome... Except iPod/iPhone

metsgaming5533d ago

i stopped reading when they mentioned ios moble devices. Total joke, those people arent real devs they make simple flash games you can get on free sites and put them on the device and charge money for it.

kyl2775533d ago (Edited 5533d ago )

Phone gaming will never overtake dedicated handheld machines no matter what those "devs" say. I would love to see them attempt chains of olympus with a good control scheme on an iphone.

KotC5533d ago

There are more phones than handheld's, phones passed Nintendo and Sony combined years ago.

Biggest5533d ago

In amount of phones, yes. In dedicated gaming, they aren't close. No current or near future phone will equal the gaming handhelds in actual gaming.

metsgaming5533d ago

^ the xperia play is the only one that can

Kurisu5533d ago

I'm really looking forward to the NGP, BUT...

...I need to know the price before I start shouting "Day 1!"

mattfong5533d ago

That's a good point ... if it's not priced competitive then forget it.

I was excited about my "swiss army" iphone when I bought it.. The thought of playing all kinds of games as well as being my mobile device was exciting.. That is until I tried playing games on it.. For example the most expensive high caliber game I purchased was gt racing.. It's essentially gran turismo iPhone... With the controls being touch screen and turning the phone to steer it was very hard for me to see the screen clearly... It killed my desire to play high caliber games on my phone.. I've played angry birds and all that other stuff and they are just minor distractions.. They get boring quickly.. I'm still playing my psp 6 months after buying it.. Mobile gaming is just a way to pass a few minutes on the bus or in a waiting room...

MGRogue20175533d ago (Edited 5533d ago )

I'm pre-ordering the 3G model as soon as I can.. it's not available for pre-order in the UK yet, unfortunately..

This is going to be nice to be able to access your psn anywhere.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle25d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments
