You know, I didn't think I was an old gamer at 33, but I was recently at PAX East and chatting with some college kids about how I used to play game online back when online RPG games where text-based, remember that?

Well they didn't, and I got some 'you crazy old-person' looks for it. I really did feel old in that moment...

Im 29. Will be 30 this year. Been gaming since the NES. Did have an Atari. Loved gaming for what it was. Fun. Still do to this day. Have owned all major consoles with the exception of Saturn and Gamecube. A good game is a good game in my book.

Back in the day we didn't care about resolution, how much stuff was on the screen at one time, who had better lighting. Mario was the $h!t. Sonic was the $h!t. Vectorman was the $h!t. Mortal Kombat was the $h!t. And everything else in between was the $h!t. No matter what console it was on.

You had a genesis, your friend wanted to play, he came over. He had a Snes, you wanted to play, you went over. Simple as that. We weren't persuaded on what to think by internet articles (internet didn't exist) or anything else. Now that we're older, most of us still have that logic. These new gamers, some of them, not all, I just feel sorry for them. They cant enjoy a game on their system of choice unless its at a higher resolution and comes out of the screen to kick them in the face.

They are so negative its disgusting. When Im playing on live or psn or pc I try to mute stupid kids that curse every 30 secs.

49 years old. I have to say, older gamers simply because of the experience. Not that they are 'better' but they can mix fun and serious gaming

If you are too serious you won't be gaming for 20+ years
If you only play for fun you will never be competitive

But true, you need to be a real gamer. I'm a real gamer. I'm NOT looking back (as in old times were better) but neither am I looking forward (as in the NEXT game will be IT, like BF3 lol)

I just play whatever is present now and that's how it was and always will be.

Currently enjoying Crysis2 and YES Homefront (ppl complain about HF ... I enjoy the good bits ... that is the trick, enjoy the good bits:)

Old gamer here. I remember the 2600 and the C-64 vividly. However the reason I love gaming is that it is always changing. I do think the current generation gamer's gene pool needs a little chlorine :)

But I don't take my passion too seriously, but hopefully I can game when I am dead.......................

I will go with older gamers, because older gamers have lived and most know the rights and wrongs of life.Most older gamers play the game right, which makes it enjoyable. Younger gamers tend to "learn the curve" camping or cheating to win in games, then mouth off after a cheating victory(which are dominate in games today). But younger gamers tend to learn the game faster. However, I am 29 and I have put younger gamers in they're place many times.

And I agree with the whole console vs console debates, back then we didn't take it to extremes such as this with graphics and such things. We would debate on who was faster, Mario or Sonic. What was ryu talking about with "you must defeat Shen Long to stand a chance". And why were we scared of Doom back then? Other then that,we played football, baseball, basketball and what ever else out side. (we went out side in those days as well.)

Like many of you,I have owned the major consoles from atari to Saturn to Ps3. Anyone remember the Sega Master system, where they had some games where you could play it on cards?

I'm definitely old school. Been gaming since 82.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.

Is this like the 10th quarter in a row they're down 33% on hardware how is that even mathematically possible. You would think their mediocrity would Plateau
