Nintendo released the original Pilotwings on August 23, 1991 with the launch on the Super NES, and then released a sequel with the Nintendo 64 launch on September 29, 1996. Since its entry on the N64, Pilotwings has laid dormant for nearly 15 years, until Pilotwings Resort was released as a launch title for the Nintendo 3DS on March 27, 2011. Pilotwings has historically been a franchise used merely to showcase new Nintendo hardware, but does this launch title have enough content to warrant a purchase, or is it a watered down release?

Some game endings are good. Most are bad. And a few just sail out of the blue. One example of an unexpected game ending is the conclusion of Pilotwings for the SNES.

Tynan Muddle at Aussie-Gamer.com writes: "Co-founder of development studio Monster Games and programmer for Nintendo’s PilotWings Resort on Nintendo 3DS David Pollatsek has passed away at the age of 38."
Pollatsek co-founded United States based development studio Monster Games in 1996 which went onto working on Wii titles such as ExciteTruck and ExciteBike: World Rally. The studio was hired as an international partner in the development of PilotWings Resort, a launch title for Nintendo 3DS. One of Pollatsek’s hobbies included flying airplanes."
