Although Nintendo's 3DS just hit store shelves, the video game industry is busy analyzing every piece of information that could shed some light on how well the $250 handheld performed this past weekend.
Make no mistake, we expect Nintendo 3DS to sell millions of units to an eager public, but the launch didn't go off without a hitch.

With a port of Professor Layton confirmed for iOS platforms, we know Nintendo is willing to loosen their grip and let older titles breath new life. Here are the 10 Nintendo games we would like to see come to mobile platforms.

Akuma isn't one of the original Street Fighters. He made his first debut in Super Street Fighter II Turbo, the fourth version of Street Fighter II. Though, you might not have seen him unless you were an especially proficient player or had access to cheats. Akuma began as a secret character. Rather than only remaining hidden for one game, he's remained a secret through many installments in the series. If you wanted Akuma, you almost always had to work for him.
Now THIS article right here is a true gaming article granted many old schoolers like myself know this but, its informing the others that didnt live those games or generations.
Really loving him so far in SF5, his new design isn't great but his moves and combos are awesome.

Knack has been in the PlayStation 4, and while it isn’t a terrible game, it isn’t a game that would have urged anyone to purchase the brand new system when it arrived.
Super Mario Land on #1 and not even a mention of Ryse while Knack is on #4.
Sometimes...opinions are just not right.
Some really mediocre launch games were Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle (Mega Drive), Beauty and the Beast (CD-I), Virtua Fighter on the Saturn that was such a bad port that they released a VF Remix,Street Fighter: The Movie (Playstation), Godzilla Generations (Dreamcast) and TransWorld Surf (Xbox)
Listing games like Perfect Dark Zero and mentioned Super Mario Land however...come on.
No. Just no.
Most of the Sega CD launch titles were garbage. Sewer Shark in particular was the worst.
I felt bad for any kid that got CyberMorph with the Atari Jaguar too!
As far as bad launch titles go... this list is soft.
Really poor article. Trying desperately to get controversy clicks with it's obviously baiting #1 choice. There is nothing of worth here.
Did it Bomb? Short answer, NO!
I swear its like the DS launch all over again, the 3DS is doing fine
also here is a pic that was taken at a BestBuy for the 3DS.
BUT WAIT..
IndustryGamers spoke to some analysts, and they actually weren't surprised by the supply situation. "With an estimated 1.9MM units shipped into the NA/EU channel, I wouldn't anticipate any stock-outs," EEDAR's Jesse Divnich told us. "The 3DS launch in North America and Europe produced sales that Nintendo should be proud of. Given the awareness and hype over the 3DS, I'd expect week 1 3DS sales to surpass week 1 DS sales from 2004."
David Cole of DFC Intelligence agrees: "It is always interesting to watch supply and demand around launch. Nintendo said last week that they had record pre-orders BUT they expected plenty of stock and no shortages at stores. I think it was really down to just having a full supply where past systems there has always been trouble getting manufacturing up in time for a launch. We think it will be a very successful system."
He continued, "Nintendo forecast shipping 4 million units of the 3DS through March 31. That is just a huge amount of hardware. It would be an absolute mind blowing record if they sold out of all of them in such a short time. By contrast the Wii shipped 3 million worldwide in its launch period (which was mid-Nov to 12/31/06). In other words, we could see Nintendo announcing some records soon when figures are tallied."
As for Pokemon having any negative effect on the 3DS launch, the analysts didn't see it that way.
"Launching Pokemon on the DS [prior to 3DS launch] was not a mistake. Expect Nintendo to be much more methodical with their 3DS release schedule compared to their previous launches. Nintendo realizes that the competitive landscape is much more fierce than with previous hardware launches and you can expect Nintendo to leverage their strong portfolio of brands in a strategic manner to drive hardware awareness when it is needed," Divnich said.
He added, "I don't believe Nintendo needed a 'killer app' for the 3DS launch. The 3DS alone and its unique features will drive initial sales. Launching a large branded Nintendo title at the 3DS launch wouldn't have delivered any incremental hardware sales. It would be much more efficient for Nintendo to wait for the initial launch buzz to subside before releasing a big first-party title, which of course will raise awareness back to its launch levels."

and fyi to all you morons, its outsold the original ds and wii in every damn region......what do you want? hell consoles havent moved this many units at launch. 2 million units in stock at launch is absurd and has never happened before. Every preorder and person who walked in has a 3ds and that will always be the case
Just wait a few months, it will still sell well. I think probably pricing and maybe a new model probably stopped some people buying it (just my theory).
just because there are units still left in the stores is hardly an indicator of how poorly a system is selling - perhaps nintendo got the supply right for this launch.
It's only been a few days! Jump the gun much. Sure it's not sold out everywhere (last time I was there, my best buy still had some), but to call it a bomb so close to launch is stupid.
