In recent years the length of video games has become something of a hot button issue in the industry. The question of "how short is too short" has been asked numerous times before. Just last year it seemed to be a key criticism aimed at the downloadable title LIMBO. Why would someone want to spend $15 for just four or five hours of gameplay? Rather than focus on dollars to hours of gameplay ratios, I'd like to highlight why short games in general are important and necessary.

We present a list of horror games with depressing endings, each known for its unique experience and storytelling.

The Epic Games Store has a couple of fun games waiting to be added to your library.

These are the best short games on Xbox Game Pass. They offer a variety of different experiences that can be enjoyed without commitment.
I am so 100% behind this argument. Quality over quantity, fo' sho'.
A game should be as long as the story is told, and not a moment longer. Granted, the gameplay can be lengthened by side-missions, hidden items/levels and puzzles, etc., but to make it longer just for the sake of it will only result in pointless/aimless gameplay. Keep the game/story tight and it will basically sell itself.
I agree, but I will say that there's a sizable contingent of gamers out there who don't really care about story elements or character, and they would much prefer to grind through nearly pointless side quests for as long as possible. I don't think WoW would be a control example of this, but certainly a viable one.
