can't wait, I loved The Darkness 1! Although I must say I'm not a fan of this cell shaded, "graphic noir" look they are going with this time. not a fan at all....at...all.

HellzAssassin5511d ago

Honestly, I agree with you :/
I wish they kept the same art style as the original. Nonetheless, I can't fucking wait! <3

Yeah sure it looks more like the comic book but if that's what they wanted they should have done that the first time around. Don't they know gamers hate change? ;)

But seriously, TD1 looked fantastic. All they would have needed to do was improve the engine. I loved the realistic look Starbreeze set up. And here goes Digital Extremes changing shit.

This is why you don't change developers when you start a new series.

Looking at their studio history too, besides Dark Sector, their library isn't even all that impressive.

I hope this game will be good...

I hope digital Extremes don't screw this game up. I loved the first one.

I never understood why people hated the first game. It had a really sweet story and had some pretty fun game play. Going back to WW1 was also really entertaining and improved the story a tenth fold.

Close combat was really underdeveloped in the first game, which was a shame, since ripping out hearts and flinging people around with the tentacles were the best part of the game. So that's great news.
Don't care much for the cell shading though, but whatever, still looks to be one hell of a game.

Has this developer ever heard of the ol'saying that if it isn't broken don't fix it instead build on it's foundation. The gamers should have diverse gameplay path choices on how they approach enemies & situations that dynamically adapts to the gamers choices & play style with purpose.

This is why I don't buy video games anymore. I have a huge Steam backlog and developers are gracious enough to offer their products for free. Fortnite is free, Darkness is free, lots of good free games. Thanks Humble

Nice thanks for the heads up.

I had a blast with the 1st one. It was perfect. The 2nd not that much, was pretty forgettable tbh and the cell shading, although beautiful, was not my kind of tea

That said, if they make a 3rd one they should make it a bit closer to the original's...vibe and looks.

kevnb3082d ago

Its not even made by the same team, I hate when publishers do that.

veicht3082d ago

I still enjoyed 2, it still kept some of the neat things from the first one. Having said that, the first is considerably better, I'd rather the 3rd (somehow) end up being made by machine games which seems to be where a fair amount of the darkness/butchers bay devs ended up.

chris2353082d ago

are we talking switch ports again or why is another lastGen game in the headlines?

ctrlxthroat3082d ago

I'm still hoping for a pc rerelease of the original.

I personally enjoyed this one more than first game (even though I think first one is good too)

The Darkness: A Greek tragedy for the video game age - G4@Syfygames

Matt Ferguson from G4@Syfygames writes "When I think of tragic love stories and star-crossed lovers, I can't recall a more heart-wrenching example than Jackie Estacado and Jenny Romano from The Darkness. What begins as a romantic story between two people from very different worlds ends abruptly in a horrific tragedy, drawing many parallels from the works of Classical Greek tragedians and epic poets."

I agree! That was a great game with well played characters.

Kallisti3716d ago

Still own a copy of both of them. The Darkness III on PS4/PC/XONE would be awesome.
