After that initial shock wore off, we started to wonder why exactly this delay was occurring. There’s the obvious reasoning that it just isn’t finished, but with a game that has been in development for well over a decade, you don’t have room for mistakes like that. At this point, there’s no “We undershot the development time.” What then? Could it, perhaps, be the competition?

Duke Nukem Forever originally began its life as a sidescroller instead of a shooter back in 1996, and that canceled version has just been leaked.
Very cool, but i don't know how real this is... I'll check it out later to find out.

Duke Nukem Forever, the troubled FPS from Gearbox and 3D Realms, has been restored to more traditional 90s shooter thanks to a sweeping “remaster” mod
kinda of a misleading title.
Mod features:
Sprinting removed and faster player movement
Jump height increased
Swim speed is much faster
Player can now hold breath underwater for 45 seconds instead of 15
Weapon rebalance and screen shake when shooting removed
2/4 weapon limit completelly removed
Quicksaves (F5 by default)
Depth of Field removed and new post processing effects
Driving sections are now in first person perspective
yw.

Duke Nukem Forever, the infamous and controversial FPS from 3D Realms, apparently looked much better before launch, as modders discover various cut features
Wow, that advanced lighting makes a huge difference to the visuals. I get that Gearbox tried to slap everything together and release a finished product. But it seems like they cut out a lot of content that would have made the experience more enjoyable. That's a shame.
Nice title lol. In all seriousness it seems they made the good choice to perfect the game, and avoid being caught up in the GOTY contender that is LA NOIRE. Infamous 2 shows them less of an opposition as it is the only major title releasing in June.
I dont have much hope for this game. We are full of FPS right now but if this game was really great it wouldnt matter, because its DUKE.
They dont seem to have faith in their product even though it is guaranteed sales because its Duke.
I have a bad feeling this game will not even come close to living up to DUKE 3D.
I can't wait for this game when it comes out in 2021. :)
Release the darn demo already.
I really doubt this game has been in development for 10 years. I understand the thought of the game has been around for that long, but the actual development time I highly doubt has been that long, its just not possible. The game that it is now probably started around 2 or 3 years ago, maybe changed a little bit since then, and was probably delayed like this guy said because of competition. There isn't anything wrong with saying its not finished though, maybe they aren't. Thats because theres no way its been in development that long. I'll probably rent this some day, I used to love Duke so many years ago.
