You close minded people, this has nothing to do with faltering a bit to their loyalty to a company or anything like that.

They made MGS4 on PS3 because MGS has always been associated with the playstaion family (even if it started on Nintendo).

Same thing could have been decided for Rising, but they decided to go multiplatform and made a new engine for both consoles. Time passes and things change, if they decided to spend money and time on a multiplatform engine, you better believe they will put it to good use in the future.

Talking here is free, but making an engine costs money and I don't see how a company that makes a new engine for 2 consoles will not use it again. Unless a publisher pays the development of a game in exchange of exclusivity. Games cost too much these days so I don't see that happening.

Bungie and Insomniac are 2 good examples that this has nothing to do with loyalty, only stupid fanboys from 2006 think that.

MGS 4 (and the psp game that recently came out) are the only titles that are exclusive to the playstation system.

I think I would be happy if MGS5 stayed on PS3 or wasn't even made. MGS4, one of the few reasons I purchased a PS3 other than being a Blu-ray player was utter cr@p! I loved 1 and 3, never played 3 but 4... I felt like smashing a few eggs with the endless video and very Unsophisticated gameply. The Japanese humor was there but overall, a big disappointment. If they are going to do anything, remake the original and have some better art direction to modernise it. I think Splinter Cell: Double Agent was much better than this, Conviction wipes the floor with it. As for the comments on the 6.8GB, two discs work fine, Castlevania was surprisingly great on Xbox and PS3 and the disc swap made no difference to me. PS3 should be mile ahead of Xbox by now but it not, I think Sony needs some new exclusive talent other than Konami, Square or even Capcom as they are all multi-platform companies now. Give me something new, like a Space Epic using the Heavy Rain engine to rival Mass Effect, maybe something Horror alone the lines of Eternal Darkness, even a videogame first... like a Comedy Narrative. I don't want Triple AAA, I want different experiences from the PS3. Use the cell the way you said in the original PS3 pre-release shows. Sony doesn't need Konami, they are too expensive to be exclusive, with the recession, picking up top tier talent should be very easy all around the world!

Well It could be exclusive or might not be, Metal Gear was on the original Xbox and Twin Snakes which is arguably the best Metal Gear title was on the Gamecube.

I think they wouldn't have to cut anything, add an extra disk for Xbox 360 and your all set. I mean it's no more hassle then the 5 times you had to wait for 7 minute installs with MGS4, which is the main reason I never even finished that game, even to this day.

With MGSR going on the 360 as well, I can totally see this being Multiplatform and if you listen closely you can hear the heartbreak of fanboys everywhere.

Also I believe MGS3 is going to be on the 3DS, if anything Kojima is a HUGE Nintendo fan.

I wouldn't care it came to 360, Konami would have to pay extra for the 3-5 disks it would be on but Konami isn't a 1st party so I have no problems with it being a multiplat.

The MGS series is amazing and MGS4 is probably my fav game this gen - i'd love for more people to experience the greatness that is MGS.

It's one of the few games that does story telling really well and gets the player strongly emotionally invested with the characters. It's a story and emotional experience that couldn't be done better in any other medium, even film.

The terms of Microsoft's deal with Kojima was "all metal gear console games from this day fourth will be now available for the Xbox 360". This excludes hand-held.
Metal Gear Solid 5 will be multiplatform, as the IP went the way of GTA and a slew of other once-exclusive titles. I recall that E3 where they announced MGS went multiplat, and G4-tech tv interviewing Kojima. I don't know where this fanboy-dribble is based from, but its idiotic to assume the game will be exclusive. The console bases, whether PS or Xbox are simply too big to ignore; exclusives will be fewer and fewer so long as MS and Sony stay neck in neck in terms of aimed-market and hardware.
Id like to see the series come to PC, but that'll never happen >_<

Usually whenever Kojima gets involved in a game it's usually always Playstation exclusive with the small exception that he was helping with Castlevania: Lords of Shadows.
Sony probably already paid Konami so expect to see MGS5 at E3 2011 being announced as a PS3 Exclusive game.

Isn't Rising technically MGS5? Just because they are taking the numbers out of the titles doesn't make it any less of a sequel. Like Call of Duty: WaW is technically CoD5.

It's the only Metal Gear game I haven't played, as I don't own a PSP... Would love a nice console adaptation in 1080p :)

I honestly think MGS5 will be a ps3 exclusive but ZOE3 will be multiplatform since the fan base is smaller and its a more risker game.The next MGS on NGP will be an NGP exclusive and will be between MGS2 and MGS4 using the MGS4 engine that will be modified and optimised for portable gaming...The team that handled Lord of the shadows will hand ZOE3...ZOE3 will have gameplay elements that may use kinectic and PS move...oh and Kojima will never bring trophie support to MGS4.....

Rising is only on the 360 because one, kojima/konami got paid and too, and two it really isn't significant for MGS's story, Its also lighting bolt action... MGS5 if it is comming, will be a PS3 exclusive because Kojima isn't about making as much money as possible.. he is about creating a game that is amazing and the fans will love... All these random gamers who complain about long cutscenes and such... no one cares.. I like them, it the MGS feeling of been drawing into a unforgetable story... something that by the end has the ability to move you.. Thats what kojima aims for and that's what the fans love.. look at metal gear solid 4 which hideo kojima stated they at least push 40% to 50% of PS3's hardware so they can do so much more on PS3 then they can if they were to bring metal gear solid 5 to 360 which would be two steps back instead of twi steps forward.

All this talk about "using X% of PS power is also crap" The consoles are both sadly outdated and under powered. The average home computer is 3 times more powerful than that of the PS. Gaming rigs are more so than both consoles combined. The graphics your seeing out of the consoles are as good as it will get, period. No, there is no more 'untapped power". The issue is, half of you CHILDREN (arguing about consoles? seriously?) haven't the slightest clue what any of those console specs actually mean. In actuality, PS and Xbox are neck in neck in power. Jesus this 'site' is a joke. There must be a more mature gaming forum somewhere.
Ps fans think they have some alien hardware thats so much better than the xbox (despite equal results) and Xbox fans think they are better than PS and they will fail forever. Its just sad. Both your consoles are pocket calculators compared to today's tech. Frankly, its because of the success of consoles that impedes graphical development. Crytek for example would have used DX11 and a slew of other features making a much better looking game had they not insisted on cashing in on the weak powered consoles. MGS 5 will be a multiplatform, so you can all just can it.

With every numbered MGS game (Rising isn't a numbered MGS game), there is an upgrade in hardware or no change in hardware. There is never a downgrade(PW doesn't count as its not a numbered MGS) in hardware. Thus, MGS5 on 360 wouldn't go along with that pattern. If MGS5 comes out this gen, I'm very confident that it will be a PS3 exclusive. What I fear is that too much time and talent is being spent on Rising instead of on the next big MGS game.

I hope it stays with playstation. To me, seeing Snake/Big Boss on another system is like playing the new Mario on an XBox. As for Peace Walker, I bought it yesterday. I was on my Sony PSP :) all day with it. I am having more fun with this one than Guns of the Patriots. I hope 5 is a remake/reinvisioning of the first Metal Gear games, because they truly deserve that cinematic feeling Mr. Kojima has spoiled us with. But if he doesn't go that route, how about another Big Boss adventure? That would be freakin' sweet.

K by the time metal gear solid 5 will come out there will be new consoles and we don't know whats gonna be better. Also about 90% of games will be multi platform because it takes a lot of money for and effort for game developers to make a good game, and what if it doesn't sell that well that could be risky so they want to make the game multi platform so that the same thing wont happen what happed to mgs4 (didn't sell that well).

People need to understand that Kojima is a perfectionist. Kojima making a game limited to 6.8gb of space won't suffice. Seriously, his games are his passion, it's not always about the cash, but making your dream project come true.

Sounding worse and worse. I still love games like this but that means his part will be 3-4 hours at most and who knows how long till the next one comes out and the quality of that. (See Dark Pictures anthology for a good example)
