Gameolio: I love my Cube

Davesto, from Gameolio, writes:

"Okay, I missed the last Podcast and couldn’t believe that I missed an epic episode on my favorite console of all time – the Nintendo GameCube. In fact I love the Cube so much that I bought two. Yes, one for the PAL region and one for the NTSC region. I am still trying to get my hands on a nice Panasonic Q that comes with a DVD player – just for collection purposes.

No matter what people said about the Cube – especially the whole kiddy image of the Cube – it is honestly a great console. I still play my Cube a lot even now, even more than the Wii itself. I even bought every single accessory available, including the GameBoy Player, four sets of link cables and two Wave Bird controllers. Not to mention nearly every colour of controller available. That’s how obsessed I was with my GameCube."

I liked the gamecube too. IDK what was up with the hate for it. Liked the games, liked the size. Only problem I had was the controllers were kinda weird.

Gamecube's a gem. I remember the run up to christmas after it'd been released. Playing Starwars Rogue Squadron, Luigis Mansion and Spiderman in GAME. Then came christmas.

AHH HELL YEAH! Mario Sunshine sure warmed up that winter ;)

I understand it takes time.. but jesus, can Nintendo just devote an entire team who's sole responsibility is porting these games over? So many great Gamecube games, and nothing against this title, but the drip feeding is painstakingly slow.

Open the floodgates!

It's crazy how this was one of the first games announced for the service too, yet we received unannounced titles before it!

Honestly. Nintendo can get fucked. I don't participate in any of their scams anymore, they've lost their luster. They just want the money, and they're releasing slop and intentionally slowly dripping releases we actually want to see. Tired of their schemes.

The demise of gaming started with the release of the PS5 and Series X. Both released too early and the previous consoles still hanging about, we're still seeing new PS4 releases. The price of games and controllers these days, we're heading for another 1980 gaming crash. The likes of the PS6 and whatever Xbox, leave it for another 5 years, around 2030, but by then, I'd hate to think how much consoles will cost.

I still have my original GameCube copy. This is one of my favorite on my GameCube because it is my first time playing a Fire Emblem game.

Agent756d ago

Great that you still have the original. I have original games on disc, but I'm in the process of moving them on and discs start to rot.

I'm not one for going back to old games, but it makes me chuckle when games go missing. On top of that, why don't Nintendo finally change its ways and offer its online service with everything for a flat price of say £24.99 a year. Faffing on with pricing models is the dogs dinner. On top of that, we've paid for these games years ago, but you could say the games are free and you pay to play games online. I know I'm never going to see a single format and I've been gaming since around 1982, but gaming needs to start moving in the right direction with pricing, more so the price of games and controllers these days.

Does those 10-15 pounds really make that big of a difference? It's pretty cheap for a full year.

And i never paid for any of these games and never played any of them. So that might be why i find it appealing.

Though would be nice if the individual games could be purchased as well. But would probably still subscribe, i use these console apps a lot.

Nintendo Faces Fresh Labor Complaints Three Years After Union-Busting Settlement

Nintendo of America is once again facing labor complaints from one or more of its workers. Game File reports that new charges accuse the Switch 2 manufacturer of violating sections of the National Labor Relations Act dealing with worker organizing and related union activities. These come just a few years after the company settled a previous labor charge with a former tester for $26,000.
