Instead all gamers are being offered is the same game, re-skinned under a different name every year in the disguise of two developers on an alternating cycles... hence a game every year. Gameplay mechanics, story and online have remained the similar in the last 3 CODS. Short and meaningless campaigns, broken and imbalanced gameplay, glitched and all at a higher price including the DLC maps.

This Gen deservers a better class of developing. In fact we should be demanding it and stopped being milked by Activision's money grabbing cycle.

So drop to 30 fps go with a deferred render engine and go with a 720p framebuffer. Going deferred means they dont have to use the expensive MSAA and can go with a post processing AA like BF 3 will do on consoles maybe suggest them to use Jimenez Mlaa a version of god of war 3 mlaa but only running on the gpu instead of using 5 spu with a 4ms cost it running on gpu with around the same cost.

COD had it's time at the top and is now on it's way down... but it's still a fun game for a lot of people so let them enjoy it.
Other FPS's are having to raise their game to compete with COD so in fact the over the top COD sales are in fact helping drive the FPS genre forward, and when alot of the COD addicts start getting into other FPS you will see even more improvement.... which will also lead to Activision pumping dollars and tech into their little money making machine which means COD will once again become a contender....

All that is needed is a bit more of a level playing field in the FPS market and being such a money maker the genre will continually improve!

So really... come on..... stop getting all serious about gaming and just enjoy it.... it's like arguing over whether you prefer watching a TV show or a good movie.... who cares... you have access to both so adjust to your own personal preferences at the time. I've watched where they were talking about the engine, I couldn't hear very well because of all the noise but I think Josh was really honest, he just said that the Frostbite 2.0 looks (obviously) stunning, but that their engine can be kept updated, not to look as stunning as FB but to look better than the current COD Engine while keeping its smoothness (of 60FPS).

Anyone that's played more than just Call of Duty knows about all the flaws within the physics and gameplay themselves, but apparently it's so easy to update they haven't, makes perfect sense....

even if it could be updated it's not like they will update it until they start seeing numbers go down, I imagine mw3 could start the downslope if it's just new skin, perks and kill streaks. There's just too many truly next gen engines being introduced this year to not pay attention to the tech in 2011 titles. cryengine 3, frostbite 2, id tech 5, killzone's engine, and even Brink with what it's doing with id tech 4 is so far advanced of what we see from the same basic tech as COD4.
