How do you know when your child has crossed the line, from recreational player to problem gamer?

New report from Skillsearch found that 22% of those surveyed had been laid off within the past 12 months.

It's a step forward for Stop Killing Games.

The Callisto Protocol director thinks the solution involves the right people, the right timing, and perhaps a little bit of AI
I don't agree with that. I WISH I could agree with that. But buying habits and customer opinions prove otherwise
We've seen developers in the AAA space try new things and ideas. More often than not, the customers aren't willing to give things a chance, or not enough people buy into the project for it to grow.
Creativity works better in the indie space because the budgets, pressures, and expectations aren't the same.
it's a nice idea and it worked during the PS2/PS3-era when AAA didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars. smaller budgets and shorter development time left room for more creativity and more risk. a game didn't need to sell 4 million+ copies to break even. things are different now.
This is the guy who bragged about crunching his staff and having them work through the night. Crunch culture has lost more talent and done more damage to the industry than any other factor. Screw him.
Why is gaming seemingly targeted a lot more than other forms of media, their comparing someone who plays over 20 hours of video games a week to a alcoholic or gambling addict. Apparently gamings bad but 20 hours of TV doesn't get bad press and the amount of time adults and kids are on facebook ect a day can also be huge but again there's less things saying that this is bad.
It really bugs me that games get blamed for a lot, the article even states at one point its about the family unit having a problem with communication and there still blaming gaming. In this situation gaming is just the way of relaxing and escaping its not the cause of the problem (while i can understand that escaping to much for stupidly long hours lyk 8+ hours a day can cause a problems with perception of reality) but taking that away doesn't actually address the problems of the family as mentioned
Sorry for rant but really since when has thinking about anything different than what your doing at that moment act as a warning sign that your addicted to the thing your thinking about.
"If the child or youth is gaming instead of doing other things"
Well, usually humans do one thing at a time. And if he's not playing, is doing other things.
