PAX East 2011: Red 5 Studios' Firefall Making a Big Splash

SFX-360:
PAX East provides opportunities that can inevitably lead to the success or failure of any given game. Studios spend big bucks hoping that their demos will sway the opinions of wandering gamers and reserve the cash in their wallets. Through the bustling crowds of PAX East, one of the most common phrases I heard was, “Have you checked out Firefall yet?!” Indeed, I had. I was given the opportunity to demo the game with the lead designer Scott Youngblood, and director of sales at Promethium Marketing, Chris Paladino. I will admit that the game was never on my radar, and my time with the game quickly made me realize that Firefall could change the MMO market in a significant way.

This is sad news, because I always felt there was great potential with this game but it never got to where it could be.

Plus this was the only game to ever use the Project Offset engine too. Project Offset never came out so getting to see what it could do was the closest we ever got because of this game.
