MoveModoTalking Point: Should Move Controls Become the FPS Standard?

There's been plenty of praise given to Killzone 3's PlayStation Move controls: precise and engaging, they help to take Guerilla Games' sci-fi shooter into the upper reaches of PlayStation 3 titles. Having spent major time with both control methods here at Movemodo, there's no doubt which scheme has the upper hand when it comes to online play, as well as simply making the game more enjoyable. It's Move all the way, and Guerilla Games deserves its praise.

However, Killzone isn't the only first-person shooter in Sony's stable: later this year we'll see Insomniac's Resistance 3, but at the time of writing there's been no announcement of Move controls, though Insomniac did say it was still undecided back in December. In fact, to the best of our knowledge, there are no Move-compatible first-person shooters heading to PS3, which naturally got us thinking: why not?

after finishing KZ3 with Move, i would say "hell yesssssss..!!!'

blusoops5552d ago

Maybe not the "standard" but it should ALWAYS be there as an "option".
I agree with the above statement, after plating KZ3, that's how I want to play all shooters. Can't wait for Socom 4!

Rainstorm815552d ago

Yeah standard is a bit far, but being able to play FPSes with move would be a great option.

The key thing that makes it so great is Accuracy....and who said motion gaming was only foor casuals?

BrutallyBlunt5552d ago

Its all about the adoption of it. Right now not every owner has Move so why cater to just those who do? I like the approach of having it as an option and as time goes by and more people get into it more games will support it.

gravemaker5552d ago (Edited 5552d ago )

of course

Firstkn1ghT5552d ago

LOL! Move just adds an unfair advantage to multiplayer. It's much easier to aim by moving your entire arm vs. the movement of your thumbs. MOVE just noobs up the game.

newn4gguy5552d ago

Giving us the option of separate servers would work though.

UTIII had the option for "controllers only" or "mouse and keyboard" only on PS3.

I'm not sure why everyone else hasn't done this.

Dark_king5552d ago

Funny because my thumbs dont get tired of moving around after a four to six hour gaming session. My arms do however. Not to mention the slightest movement throws off your aim.

Wh15ky5552d ago (Edited 5552d ago )

Who moves their entire arm when using Move? I just move my wrist.

Plus it's going to take longer to move your entire arm compared to moving just your thumb, there's also more room for error when moving your entire arm compared to just your thumb.

I think you're going to have to rethink your argument there.

I also think most "noobs" give up on Move pretty quickly because it's surprising difficult to adapt to.

I don't agree with the beginning of this article either:

"There's been plenty of praise given to Killzone 3's PlayStation Move controls"

No where near enough IMO, at least not from reviewers.

Dark_king5552d ago (Edited 5552d ago )

Its a little harder to just move your wrist with the sharpshooter. But your right moving your thumb 5 centimeter takes less time then moving the move 20.Got mine setup a bit slower then other people so you need more movement but it increases your accuracy.

Bathyj5552d ago

Theres 3 ways I could answer this.

Yes
YES
and OH GOD YES !!!

newn4gguy5552d ago

I definitely want it as an option. I loved playing through KZ3 with the sharpshooter. It felt unique.

I'd love if more developers kept the sharp shooter in mind. My one gripe is that the "start" and "select" buttons are still hard to get to. : (

Simon's Quest is better than Symphony.

If you're gonna troll, at least make a legitimate attempt.

Levii_92381d ago

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

LG_Fox_Brazil380d ago

That's a pretty fucking great list

__y2jb380d ago (Edited 380d ago )

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.

There's too many games to choose from

No Metal geat solid 1,2,3,4?
No Resident evil?
No Silent hill?
No Midnight club 3?
No NfS Underground 2?
No Final Fantasy?
No Burnout 3?
No Dragon quest 8?
No Days gone?
No Ace combat?
No Tekken/Soul calibur?......
just from the top of my head

PS1 era was full of great RPGs, PS2 was racing generation i would pick top 200 and even that would be just a fraction.

FinalFantasyFanatic547d ago

30 is way too low over the entire history of Playstation, I just wouldn't be able to narrow it down that much, I would pick 100 at least.

Storm23547d ago

Yeah...really odd list. I get that it is personal preference and I love most of the games listed, but my list would definitely be different. I agree though, it would be incredibly difficult to come up with just 30.

lockedongamer1547d ago (Edited 547d ago )

I only picked first-party titles. Otherwise, I agree!

EDIT: Except for Days Gone, I don't get the love for it but you do you!

Chocoburger537d ago

I didn't like Days Gone either, it doesn't deserve to be on any best of list.
