Examiner Review: Homefront

Examiner: Regardless of analyzing the game to death, it all boils down to trying the game before you buy it. If something catches your eye so much that you want the game to grace a coveted spot in your game collection, then by all means go for it. However, I have a hard time recommending the game to anyone right out of the gate. Homefront deserves a shot, but that may be all it deserves.

There will be a lot of mediocre scores like this, and a lot between 8 and 9

Johandevries5541d ago

Correction: It will from now receive nothing less than perfect scores, the game will sell fourteen million copies in two-and-a-halfa week, Activision will buy the franchise and develop a sitcom on TV starring the developers copying quotes from the game all day, the impressive skyscraper now being built in New York will be renamed as the Homefront Tower and the Koreans will be so envious that they actually invade the U.S., abduct the studio's members and force them to create a AAA+ title starring the Great Leader

THE GRAPHIX ON THIS GAME SUX ASS SERIOUSLY!!

DelbertGrady5541d ago

WHAT DID YOU SAY? I CAN'T HEAR YOU.

Horny5541d ago

What do you expect you are supposed to play it with your eyes covered like the game cover

GodofSackboy5541d ago

Advice dog! Why are you here?

mrv3215541d ago

IF YOU SHOUT YOU MUST BE RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ARGH.

Wait serious now, my biggest complaint about homefront thus far is that it takes a lot of influence ( basically copies the first 10 minutes ) from Half-Life 2. Which is like saying.

The worst bit about Bad Company 2 is that is copies too much from Battlefield 1942.

Johandevries5541d ago

I AM right. And don't call me Argh.

that just cemented my decision on not buying this game .

I thought embargo won't be lifted until March 15th? Well, that's unless you have the pirated version on the PC

Ducky5541d ago (Edited 5541d ago )

... I don't think the PC version has a crack?
I've only heard about Consoles having a usable pirated version... maybe I'm wrong.

Forget game devs, even the pirates are abandoning PC gaming. =/

therapist5541d ago (Edited 5541d ago )

yeah they're not

to the console onlyies (i made that up for you)
have fun playing the witcher 2 on your ps3....ohh wait

rift...no

diablo 3..no

starcraft 2....nope not for you either

battlefield 3...well you will get to play it-

in sub hd with 24 people and tiny maps and terrible graphics

like how bfbc2 in dx11 on pc looks better than anything you have on console
but bfbc2 on console looks like a jaggie wii game

i bet your so glad you have that 1080p tv and play games like alan wake and crysis 2 in resolutions like 940x540p and 1123x603p and other idiotic non-standard resolutions just to get the game to run at a terrible 25 frames per second

pc gets 95% of console games and they actually look good.. you know in hdin hd

consoles get 50% of pc games if they are lucky, and in comparison, the console versions look and run like crap

so actually devs are gravitating towards pc, they are sick of 720p and terrible textures and 20-30 frames per second

damn the console-only haters are so ignorant

if you really wanna game

have a 360
a ps3
a wii even
a psp
an ipod
but most importantly
if nothing else

a badass gaming pc that makes every console game look like it was made 7 years ago
(in a way, it was)

Ducky5541d ago

I'm a PC gamers and all... but that was kinda unnecessary. =/

Panthers5541d ago

I love pc games, but i hate playing them on a pc. I like sitting on my couch with a controller just relaxing and playing games.

But my love for RTS games (SC2 mainly) force me to play on my pc with keyboard and mouse.

killyourfm5541d ago

This is probably the 5th review I've seen that broke the embargo, but Examiner is the biggest of the sites. Doubt THQ is going to like that.

Urmomlol5541d ago

PC version doesn't have a crack yet.

byeGollum5541d ago

thanks to steamworks(which is a good thing)... i hate steam.. i want my games stand alone..

Ducky5541d ago

^ What advantage do you get by having them standalone?
Aside from a slight performance boost by not having steam running (which is hardly any gain) there's not much to loose.

On the flip side, I believe steamwork games allow you to change your in-game name to whatever you want. So I don't have to worry about my desired name being taken... which also means you run into less people with names like xXxSn!p3rFTW1996xXx
>.<

I find it funny that people hate CoD but like Homefront when Homefront is nothing but a CoD clone. It really shows the people who hate CoD just because it's popular or because it's made by certain studios.

Both games are garbage by the way.

Ducky5541d ago (Edited 5541d ago )

Hmm, what makes you think it's a CoD clone aside from the main character being a pair of hands and a gun?

If anything, it seems more like a Battlefield game due to vehicles and map sizes.
Or rather... it seems like Fuel of War. I wonder why.

Devs Share Personal Touches They've Hidden in Games

Last week game dev Steve Thornton took to Twitter to ask: fellow devs, have you ever slipped something into a game you're working on that's just for you? The replies are well worth a read.
