I guess Killzone 3 didn't tank too bad -- It's at half a million in the states already -- That's probably 1.3 million world wide in a few weeks. It'll be at 2 million in no time. It deserves the sales, best fps I've ever played -- minus the absurd vehicle levels.

the_manson_charles5558d ago

weak sales!

smh A big budget, hyped up Sony exclusive shouldn't take roughly 3 to 4 weeks to break the 1 million copies barrier. Biggest let-down of a game in 2011? I think so.

Aussiegamer5558d ago (Edited 5558d ago )

Really the biggust let down of 2011?! Wow and here is me thinking its only the 12th of march. Dam you must have one hell of a crystal ball.

And its a great shooter. Nearly finished my second playthrough on elite. You should play the game the manson, or maybe pick up a ps3 bundle this week.

gamesmaster5558d ago

"biggest let-down of a game" because it didn't sell fast enough?

Are you a gamer or a shareholder, charles?

ipe5558d ago

big budget? nah, kz2 had 25,30 million cause it took 3,4 years, new engine etc.
- kz3 was done in less than 2 years with same engine, same crew.....probably 1 million ll make them start making profit( at 60$, 35,40$ ll go to sony and GG to split between them).

- let down? since i remember u before trolling ps3 articles im sure u didnt even touched the game, so ur opinion rendered invalid

the_manson_charles5558d ago (Edited 5558d ago )

hey dude, KZ3 is in the lower middle of the pecking order.

LBP2 500K first week sales

Infamous 275K first week sales

The biggest dissapointment with KZ3 is that it's the third installment of a series.

zootang5558d ago

I call Alan Wake 6 years in development and 1m sold in a year, weak sales.

Killzone 3 has done half of that in less than a month.

Fanboys and their double standards.

Rageanitus5558d ago

go and play your Bulletstorm like all the other xbox fanboy websites that praise the game

Seferoth755558d ago

Comparing a FPS to another genre and acting like both should have comparable sales... lol This must be your first gen. That would be like me saying comparing the 1 million of Killzone3 to the 24 million of NSMBwii Killzone must be a complete flop, but I have enough common sense to not compare a platformer to a FPS.

Sad that some fanboys cant do the same but common sense isnt so common these days

siyrobbo5558d ago (Edited 5558d ago )

sony have the exclusives, but let the side down really badly when it comes to marketing. Its nothing to do with the quality of the game

Rageanitus5558d ago

Its more like sony has spread their franchises thinly there is so much more exclusive content found on the ps3

FailOverHero5558d ago

So no props for vgchartz correctly giving us 1st week killzone 3 numbers? They were 100% correct about NA numbers being 250k, NPD proved it. Most of you doubted but when NPD showed the real numbers none of you admitted to your mistake.

snaz275558d ago

Wow 40 odd thousand ps2s sold? Omg! Really? I honestly can't believe people still buy them... Why wouldn't you just pay the little extra and get the ps3!... I mean ok i could understand a couple thousand in a week, but 40 is unreal to me... Fair play to sony though... Do you guy's think that when ps4 comes out they will have all 3 still at retail? That would be pretty impressive.

Starhawk5558d ago (Edited 5558d ago )

Because not everyone can afford a PS3, plus the PS2 has a gigantic library of games.

snaz275558d ago (Edited 5558d ago )

I understand that, but if you can get the money to spend on a ps2 then surely you could just save for a little while longer to get one? I'm not rich by any stretch of the imagination, but i got one, i just saved up... Like i said i'm just suprised by the numbers really, it's looking good for sony in america though with nearly 200,000 units sold, when you combine all their platforms, it's just shy of nintendo! Edit... Yeah it does have tons of games, this is true, but so does the ps3 now, many of the old ones being very cheap now too... And lmao at citan, now that would make sense ha ha.

Aloren5558d ago

Well, a PS2 is 100 bucks, a PS3 300. I'm pretty sure that's a big difference for a lot of people (and kids).

snaz275558d ago (Edited 5558d ago )

Wow really? Is that the cheapest you can get the ps3 for over there? The 2 consoles are a bit closer together here in the uk... Still it's quite surprising it's doing half the ps3 numbers still, this late on in its life... It's great, just suprising to me. Edit... Here it's like 109 for a ps2 and about 240 for a ps3... See why i'm suprised now? Lol.

morkendo235558d ago

@snaz27
ps3 dont have much VARIETY of games as ps2 have so far since 2006 same fking games over an over nothing NEW!!! while ps2 have more different games from hardcore to casuel where everyone felt welcome. with hardcore only thats why many ps2 gamers bought the WII Duh!!!! until sony first person dev. make casuel games it will lack VARIETY!! not for ps move but for ps3

snaz275558d ago

Ps3 has no casual games? Really? Lol... I think ps3 has a very broad range of games as it goes... Not just 1st party but multiplat too, which ofcourse they don't even have much say over... I would say wii is much more weighted towards casual... I don't even know what you're on about to be honest, i don't think you do either lol.

I think the guy who invented those numbers accidentally pressed 4.

trounbyfire5558d ago

we have go to do better in NA. selling below 100,000 per week is unacceptable. i don't know what can be done right now.

any ideas

trounbyfire5558d ago (Edited 5558d ago )

yeah we as in sony and playstation fans.

you know how people say we lost that game in sports or we did well...same thing and people say it all the time. greenbay fans don't say greenbay won the superbowl they say we won the superbowl. no difference

but now you have a problem with it because its gaming related.

regardless of what you think there is a relationship between consumer and producer. its not personal but we depend on each other. if sony closed today my ps3 is useless because new content can't be given.

if consumers stop buying sony products they they go out of business.

you need two to tango and so WE are dancing together, we need each other

gamesmaster5558d ago (Edited 5558d ago )

That's a poor analogy considering 'football' teams clearly have differant agendas to consumer electric companies. Your argument just doesn't translate, people support teams because they play sport which people enjoy watching or taking part in, these corps contend for profits and market share, the two things are differant,

i have no problem with people being happy with their purchases and wanting to support that given company more, but aside from buying more products or shares, what else can you do. i just think saying "we" in the context of regional sales is just plain weird.

I'm a massive darkhorse comic fan and buy alot of thier books etc, but i wouldn't say "we need to sell more books this is unacceptable" becasue i see myself as a member of the fanbase and not the company, theres the distinction.

dont take it so personally though, just my opinion.

Seferoth755557d ago

Well the owners of Football teams are in it for the money just like any company. I get what he is saying. Each gen is a race to first and he backs his company like a football fan would back their own team. It's not really that hard to grasp and acting like there is no money in Football or that a lot of people arent in that business just for the money is ludicrous

gamesmaster5557d ago (Edited 5557d ago )

You've missed my point, think back to his original statement

"we have go to do better in NA. selling below 100,000 per week is unacceptable"

hes talking about sales, of course i understand clearly that sports teams are practically corperations in themselves, but the reasons behind people backing thier particular teams are commonly not sales/profit/business related, but sport and competition related. when they say we, they mean the sports teams not the accountants etc.

"acting like there is no money in Football or that a lot of people arent in that business just for the money is ludicrous"

you're saying there are a great number of people that support certain football teams because they make good profits? well in part you're right, but they on the whole will be shareholders and employees or benificiaries all of which i doubt trounbyfire is.

so back to the point, saying "we" with regard to console SALES is weird in my opinion and i stress in my opinion.. and thats all im saying

kudos for the sensible debate though lets keep it friendly

PS3 still selling 35-40k more worldwide per week then the 360.

But USA is the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

trounbyfire5558d ago

we still have to do better in NA right WW or not if we do better in NA even selling less than the 360 we will do better overall

FailOverHero5558d ago

I'm sorry, we??
And that 25 k difference was just during the killzone launch, otherwise vgchartz has shown 360 ahead of ps3 for a couple of weeks

winflasher05558d ago

What do you mean by "we"? I don not understand.

wingman32x5558d ago

I'm sorry, but exactly how is that relavent when the artical clearly says "americas"? Same for the NPD articles, the "NA=/=world" comments are irrelevant because the main topic of discussion is NA sales.

offdawall5558d ago

yup everyone knew kz3 wud do well ... but lol vg nunbers are so fake they been overtracking 360 for years

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle31d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.

jznrpg37d ago

My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.

Smellsforfree36d ago

Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.

Loktai36d ago

Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.
