CryEngine 3 & Frostbite 2.0 are better engines. There, someone had to say it.

Izanagi-no-Okami5560d ago

Do you have some kind of proof? Are you a programmer? Oh, i think no.

MGRogue20175560d ago (Edited 5560d ago )

Well.. Unreal Engine is old tech, came out in like '09

CryEngine 3 & Frostbite 2.0 are all-new & cutting-edge. That's exactly what developers need for their future titles.. new engines. Way too many games are made using the Unreal Engine..

Out with the old, in with the new..

Except UDK is free to download and use and a lot more accessible to outside developers. Plus about 70% of games use it. I can use UDK and I'm in college.

maxcer5560d ago

lol, gotta love armchair developers that infest N4G.

Izanagi-no-Okami5560d ago

I recommend Ubuntu for this task.

Disney Should Buy Fortnite And Epic Games, Former Exec Says

The Walt Disney Company's new CEO, Josh D'Amaro, is a big fan of video games, and one former Disney executive believes D'Amaro would be smart to do even more in gaming going forward. This could include a buyout of a gaming company like Epic Games.

In an interview with CNBC, Kevin Mayer--a former Disney and TikTok executive who now runs Candle Media--said D'Amaro will need to take "bold steps" to help Disney make more money and grow its stock price. One part of this could be doing more in gaming, he said.

Apparently nobody remembers the absolute shitshow that happened when EA brought the Havok engine which was used as the default engine of the 6th generation like UE is used today.

SkilledGamer59d ago

You've got it wrong, EA bought Renderware not Havok. Havok was bought by Intel in 2007 and then Microsoft in 2015

Fishy Fingers59d ago (Edited 59d ago )

Nor was it ever a widely used or considered, game engine, Renderware was. It was and still is a physics/material simulation plugin for the actual game engines.

Profchaos59d ago

Yeah you're right i was thinking of Renderware. But point still stands Renderware was used literally everywhere from games like GTA 3,VC,SA to Sonic games and Tony hawk it was really the default industry wide engine that UE is today.

If Disney takes over Epic and UE we could face a situation where they change the terms of use for other game devs big and small. They could remove the licensing agreements currently in place and impose a payment per download model like Unity did which could cripple the industry.

TOTSUKO59d ago

Fck Disney stock and their shareholders.

blacktiger59d ago

Well I can imagine DIsney with their transgender Snowwhite and black cinderally and mermaid and other garbage. Imagine video games lmao!!!

Huey_My_D_Long58d ago

Dumbass cant even spell Cinderella but apparently he's upset by the 1997 Cinderella classic starring Brandy. Almost 20 year old movie.
Just say you dont like black people man, we all know it.

rlow159d ago

I really hope this doesn’t happen. They ruin everything that they buy. Terrible company

Zerobalance59d ago (Edited 59d ago )

Trolling. Hope Disney take the Maval characters like Spider-Man and Wolverine away from Sony and make it themselves that would me laugh so hard.

"It is going to get so much worse in the video game industry...This will get worse and going to be bad and it's going to eventually get better." -Greg Miller right before it got worse

Agent7561d ago

Too many games, too many versions, download only games, game pricing, £700+ consoles, eye watering prices for controllers, four formats, gaming is one big mess.

gold_drake61d ago

id argue that epic games has alot of other revenue income other than fortnite, so their reasoning makes zero sense.
