Guerrilla’s Technical Director, Michiel van der Leeuw explained to Digital Foundry why Killzone 3 is visually different from the previous installment. Interestingly, Van der Leeuw explains that while this is largely due to artistic direction, but that “some technology that played parts in it as well.”

As PlayStation celebrates its 30th anniversary, let's explore the best PlayStation games Sony has to offer.

No Tekken/Soul calibur?......
just from the top of my head
PS1 era was full of great RPGs, PS2 was racing generation i would pick top 200 and even that would be just a fraction.
The Amsterdam-based studio reflects on its humble beginnings, beloved franchises, and growth through the years.
Up there with the top tier in the industry. Love Guerrilla Games - Horizon Burning Shores is simply STUNNING.
32.7M sales in the Horizon franchise! With 8.4M coming from Forbidden West alone! Truly a hugely successful game and franchise as a whole. Looking forward to Horizon III
Yooo, when I first saw that Killzone 1 footage at E3, my friends my brothers and I were like, Holy shit! When it came out, it didn't look exactly like it, but we sunk so many hours into 1 & 2.
I even liked Killzone: SF, it was a spectacle to look at, and even today it looks good. I hope they make a new one. Can you imagine how that will look, and they can get some modern FPS pointers from Bungie.
Such a wonderful studio. They deserve all their success.
The Decima Engine is absolute 🔥 I'm just mad they have abandoned Killzone.
DSOGaming writes: "While Sony does not plan to release Killzone 3 on the PC, Yahfz shared a video that gives us a glimpse at what such a PC version could look like."
PC almost always ends up the best place to play games, even if it takes a while.
What would you rather play decades down the line? A game at a fixed resolution and frame, considering you have a working disc, and the hardware?
Or run it on an emulator that can update the experience all around, and let you use whatever control input you prefer?
If you insist on the former, it's really only for the sake of nostalgia.
The RPCS3 devs are doing great work. And Kami works nicely with it too it seems.
Very neat.
Best looking fps on CONSOLES to date..
The visuals create the best amosphere to imo
ONE OF THE ONLY GAMES TO MAKE MY WIFE SAY WOW!
.
I WASN`T impressed and thought that the developers bit off more than they could chew. Some games and some game engines work better in a darker environment ( AW )...KZ is one such game.
The " jungle " level showed a lot of the weaknesses this engine has. It was laugh out loud embarrassing with bad graphics, bad AI and robotic like physics that would not look out of place last gen...it's all there if you want to be honest about it...

Life like, fleshy organic graphics are not possible with this engine...tho they tried.
The cut scenes are brutal and far to long, interrupting the game play with a far to serious and melodramatic story I doubt anybody cared for...I just want to PLAY damn it...lol
I just don't get what it was the creative behind the game were thinking. People want white knuckle, hanging on for dear life battles not enemies that hide in cover and fire blindly from across the map or weapons that hold you hand by locking on targets for you...O_o
It seem like they spent a lot of time READING about other games and their game play and then decided to throw it in to KZ3 without any changes. The stealth mission, sniper mission, Mech mission...I mean it`s all been done before and far better.
The Boss battle that is always brought up was no different than shooting at a tall building...the thing never moved except up and down. EVEN Halo 2 years ago let you jump aboard the Scarab and fight the enemy while walking around. The on rails shooting sequences never felt like you were doing anything because they were out of your control...just a mess if you ask me.
There were some great moments...The jet pack and last couple missions were fun just too little, too late.
I did play Bulletstorm and finished it BEFORE taking on KZ 3 ( which I completed as well ) and that game is the anti COD-KZ3 game...this commercial says it best...

Guerrilla needs to go back to the drawing board and figure out what they want KZ as a franchise, to be...a ww2 Nazi in space COD wannabe or their own unique game with matching game play.
I want them to keep the same graphics but make it 60fps. I know it is possible since 3d you have to render 2 images at the same time. So 1 image @ 60fps wont be too much harder.
If they do that with KZ4 or there next game then that should get PC gamers to stop bashing the PS3.
