GQ's opinion on the new Xbox 360 controller with the transforming D-pad.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

The name "Hewson" carries a special weight for anyone who grew up during the golden age of British computing. Are M$ going to swap these for the default console controllers? This new controller is cool and all, but there will be a steeper learning curve for new gamers since the association of keys to game actions are created by the perception of colors.
Would be keen to see a study of effective actions per minute (in a range of games) by newcomers using each controller - I think you will find the colors work better in that case.
So they finally copied the Sony Controller :P
Awesome controller. The 360 controller is now my favourite, just ahead of the Dreamcast's.
The d-pad on the original was absolutely terrible, and I'm glad its been fixed.
they must just start making controllers cheaper. all these dudes cane our wallets with their new controllers.
I like the look of the Razer Onza better.
Hard to tell which has the better d-pad though. the 360 control shape is good but the buttons were clunky and sometimes they didn't seem very responsive. I think that's where the onza would have the edge, better components/response time.
