Mass Effect 2 Passed the Digital Test

Publishers are starting to see the benefit to releasing full game downloads on console the same day the retail version hits store shelves.

Speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology Conference in San Francisco last week, Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello seemed pleased with the digital version of Mass Effect 2 for PlayStation 3, a 12GB download released the same day as the Blu-ray version.

It's shcokingly expensive on PSN though, £40 or something vs, already, £25 in stores...

The idea is good, the pricing is attrocious.

Pixelated_Army5568d ago

Agreed. If they want digital downloads to be a success then they need to compete with third party resellers prices. Why would I buy ME2 on PSN for $60 when I can get it from Amazon for a much lower price.

Graey5570d ago

Indeed.

But I suppose you pay for conveince(sp). I agree 100% with you Pirate. I bought mine on the PSN and the funny thing is I haven't even looked at the game twice after a week or so. I have way to many games at the moment. None of them seem to be going down...but I should probably stop playing WOW and focus on my console games or something.

Any who...Dragons Age 2 comes out tomorrow...can you guess what I'll be doing lol.

Graey5570d ago

Ha ha...indeed my good man lol.
I'm going to click on that bubble thing for the simple fact that it took me a minute to understand your comment (lol I'm sick) and when I did it all most made me spit out my tea.

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine544d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast544d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman544d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast544d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave792d ago (Edited 792d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
