TQcast: Hyperdimension Neptunia Review

TQcast author writes: Every now and then a game comes along that up until then, totally escaped your radar. Even more rare is finding out that that game is a true diamond in the rough. At first glance, Hyperdimension Neptunia might look like your average budget JRPG title. Upon further inspection, I can honestly say that Hyperdimension Neptunia is far from a budget JRPG.

this game is so bad, it should not even exist

Neckbear5560d ago (Edited 5560d ago )

May I ask, what's your argument for saying such harsh words?

@gravemaker

Those are...subjective arguments, one could say.

I find myself liking the graphics. Surely, they're not the best thing ever, and backgrounds could use some work, but the character models are quite well-done, I believe.

"Dialogues are awful", that is something I, myself, would disagree on. Y'see, I kind of love when things get ridiculous and there's genre-savvy and whatnot, and Neptunia delivers that pretty well. ("Don't attack me while I transform!", "Oh, yep, Death Flag triggered. Kinda guessed he was one of the gonna-die-NPCs when I met him." "What's up, a favor? Alright, but no touching. Got it? No touching!", etcetera).

Art is static? Well, yeah, but isn't that applicable to almost every JRPG out there?

Gameplay, boring? In your opinion, my dear friend. I find it quite...fun, myself.

And, dungeons? Yeah, with that I can really agree.

Thing is, even when I know Neptunia's got some heavy flaws, it still manages to be not only entertaining, but incredibly fun. In my opinion, anyways.

don't bother responding to the troll. Its like talking to a brick wall.

gravemaker5560d ago (Edited 5560d ago )

i played this game couple of days ago. Dialogues are awful, art is static, worst gfx ever. Gameplay boring, repetitious. Dungeons are linear, with awful camera. Even Atelier Rorona better than this abomination

Redempteur5560d ago (Edited 5560d ago )

"dongeons are linear" like what dragon age 2 ?
like FF8 ?

like every dongeon in rpgs ? or did you want to be lost in a dongeon labyrinth to have fun ?

as for the dialogue , one of the first lines of neptune is that if nobody is gonna tell her what she was doing there, she was about to collect some floating golden rings not far from the ground .. and then the smile was already on my face.

i love this game. not perfect but still good fun

Stealth20k5560d ago

^ in your opinion you mean? which means nothing to anyone else

paradigmfellow5560d ago

I like this game. This game is good

gravemaker5560d ago

this game simply cant be "good" in any means possible, because its simply bad in every way
Gamespot even gave it a 2/3 out of 10 and that was overrated

zatrox5560d ago

"bad in every way" seems like a shallow statement, for one.

Second, the Gamespot review? That one doesn't even critizice the game subjectively, it's just a rant about how the game has "sexualized minors"; written by a female, no less, so that's quite the horrible example you just provided.

Tex1175560d ago

Im sure its fine for the anime JRPG crowd.

Ar Trol.. (however its spelled), looks a little more interesting than this one, but thats my preference.

zatrox5560d ago

Yeah, Ar Tonelico's (there you go, it isn't that hard to remember) where it's at, to be honest.

Though Neptunia's fun, for like the 15 hours I've played it so far.

Moerdigan5559d ago

wait for Diagaea4, ArTonelico3 or Totori.

I say it as someone that has bought this game already.

A Look Back at the Hyperdimension Neptunia Series on PlayStation Handhelds

VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "Console wars have been around pretty much since the dawn of videogames, but the Hyperdimension Neptunia series makes light of these arguments by personifying consoles and their manufacturers as cute goddesses and has them battle it out for supremacy. It proved to be a sleeper hit for publisher Compile Heart, who after an initially shaky start with the first entry transformed the series into its most compelling franchise."

Mikki Monster sure nailed her super sexy cosplay of Neptune from “Hyperdimension Neptunia”

I (Robin Ek, TGG) just spotted a super sexy cosplay of Neptune from "Hyperdimension Neptunia". Yes, I think it's safe to say that Mikki Monster nailed her Neptune cosplay like a boss.

ZaWarudo3291d ago

She did an amazing job with the costume and hair.

TGG_overlord3291d ago

Very much so =) And I just asked her if she's up for an interview ;)

Littil_Devil3290d ago

I just saw that you got the interview, congrats =)

Simon_the_sorcerer3290d ago

Since you got the interview, may one drop you a few interview questions?

Littil_Devil3290d ago

That's what I call a really awesome cosplay :3

Simon_the_sorcerer3290d ago

That's a 10/10 cosplay right there, plus points for being sexy thick :3

TGG_overlord3290d ago

And yet most of them don't even work out, so I am yet to know the secret how they manage to stay in shape xD

TGG_overlord3290d ago

@Simon_the_sorcerer "Since you got the interview, may one drop you a few interview questions?"

- Sure =) You could drop the questions here on the post itself.

FullmetalRoyale3290d ago
