NowGamer: Hyperdimension Neptunia Review

A neat central concept does nothing to hide the fact that this is yet another lazy and boring RPG from Idea Factory. There’s zero inspiration in the gameplay and even less than that in the presentation and world design.

"It lacks even a basic level of strategy or customisation."

and that's how i know that the reviewer hasn't played the game ..

i wonder how people can comes at neptunia expecting a serious story with a setting like that .

rataranian5568d ago

Doesn't even matter to me what people like this have to say.
I got it. It sold out on NIS so that means people bought it. Which means more NIS games will be released in the US. = I win.

Three_Sisters5568d ago

ouch...the latest game that's added to my favorites recieved such low score T_T...

Silly gameAr5568d ago

Don't let it stop you from trying it out. Your opinion my be completely different.

Three_Sisters5567d ago

I think you got it all wrong...I've been playing this game since release and loved it despite the game having almost PS2 graphics...and I'm still going to play it until I get the platinum trophy...

madjedi5568d ago (Edited 5568d ago )

@ three review scores have become almost worthless this generation, i'd listen to actual gamer or users review scores alot more seriously than any "professional reviewer" at any website.

Main reason, gamers will play the hell out of the game, like you would, not like alot of reviewers that either doesn't like the genre or rushes through it to do a review.

More JRPG hate propaganda by the western media... The same media that gives inflated scores to even crappy WRPGs.

If you look in some of the Hyperdimension Neptunia forums, there are a lot of people who are actually enjoying this game.

But if anyone wants to be a sheep and base their purchasing decisions on reviews like this, that's fine with me.

Inception5568d ago

Agreed. I don't understand what's wrong with western media this day. Why they always said "same concept, cliche story, old gameplay, yada yada yada" to JRPG and gave bad score?! .But they always gave high score for games like CoD who just...the same game for years but more flashy? it doesn't make sense!

madjedi5568d ago

It's simple it's called a double standard, which exists all over and part of it is hate for jrpgs.

Baka-akaB5568d ago (Edited 5568d ago )

it's not these days . As far as i remember most jrpg reviews in big video games outlet seems to use the same silly word template and sheet , where everything is always oring , generic , even "anime generic plot" ,. You just paste the name of the game , and here you go you've got a review .

Again it's not these day .. it's only wirse now because "finally" they dont have to praise the big titles like final fantasy and can revel and stroke their ego with "are jrpg are dying articles"

Inception5567d ago

@madjedi & baka
Maybe you both right. I just...missed the old days that reviewer focus more detail on gameplay and other aspect, rather than told us that "this games are not for you cause it's just the same old thing" fiasco.

BlackBusterCritic5568d ago

Lol, to the person who reviewed this game...WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU? You aren't a proper reviewer, nor do you know what makes a real RPG. Games like HyperDimension, Crossedge, Disgaea, and Ar Tonelico can't be played by simple minded buffoons, such as yourself. They offer tons of character customization, synthesis, intuitive and strategical battle systems, and tons of replay value. But hey, keep playing your damn First person shooters and third person shooters that only have little tidbits of RPG elements...AND CALLING IT A REAL RPG. Obviously, if you don't have a gun, you won't enjoy it.

A Look Back at the Hyperdimension Neptunia Series on PlayStation Handhelds

VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "Console wars have been around pretty much since the dawn of videogames, but the Hyperdimension Neptunia series makes light of these arguments by personifying consoles and their manufacturers as cute goddesses and has them battle it out for supremacy. It proved to be a sleeper hit for publisher Compile Heart, who after an initially shaky start with the first entry transformed the series into its most compelling franchise."

Mikki Monster sure nailed her super sexy cosplay of Neptune from “Hyperdimension Neptunia”

I (Robin Ek, TGG) just spotted a super sexy cosplay of Neptune from "Hyperdimension Neptunia". Yes, I think it's safe to say that Mikki Monster nailed her Neptune cosplay like a boss.

ZaWarudo3299d ago

She did an amazing job with the costume and hair.

TGG_overlord3298d ago

Littil_Devil3298d ago

Simon_the_sorcerer3298d ago

Since you got the interview, may one drop you a few interview questions?

Littil_Devil3298d ago

Simon_the_sorcerer3298d ago

That's a 10/10 cosplay right there, plus points for being sexy thick :3

TGG_overlord3298d ago

And yet most of them don't even work out, so I am yet to know the secret how they manage to stay in shape xD

TGG_overlord3298d ago

@Simon_the_sorcerer "Since you got the interview, may one drop you a few interview questions?"
