According to Insomniac, bigger isn't always better. Despite having raised the maximum multiplayer headcount from 40 to 60 for Resistance 2, the upcoming third entry in the series is ready to scale things down considerably.
Insomniac Games' thunderous conclusion to its acclaimed first-person shooter series remains an under-appreciated work of art.
Not a classic in my opinion ; a pretty mediocre PS3 shooter as far as I'm concerned, not bad, not the worst of the trilogy, but certainly not great. Killzone 2 was miles ahead of it (and of most FPSs even today as far as I'm concerned).
I wish they'd bring back the Resistance 2 multiplayer. God that co-op was so much fun.

There are some epic PlayStation Plus Premium shooters, from Naughty Dog's Uncharted series to the high-stakes action of Doom published by Bethesda.

While it's been on ice for as long as it was around, the Resistance franchise has no shortage of quality.
My take:
Single player
3, 2, 1
Multiplayer
3, 1, 2
Overall
3, 2, 1
I beat the lengthy single player in 1 multiple times and spent hours in the online too. Plus 1 featured my home town! Special mention to the audio design in 1: playing that with surround headphones blew me away.
Note: I have the platinum for Resistance 2.
I only played the 3 main Resistance titles. My ranking would be;
1. Resistance 3
2. Resistance: Fall of Man
3. Resistance 2
Man I loved 3's campaign. Another gem stuck on the ps3 and who knows if insomniac will go back to the franchise.
Interesting. I can't wait to try out the beta. The multiplayer footage looked pretty fun.
they have clearly learnt from R2's mistakes, although i'll miss even the 40 player matches on nottingham from R1, it'll be interesting to see how R3 creates the premium multiplayer experience...for now though, its time to get back into Killzone 3 multiplayer, scaling the heights of Concourse with those sick ass Jetpacks raining hell on everything you see
isnt it funny that all the PS3 fanboys claim that bigger = better for multiplayer numbers, and now the developer that held the crown of 'most players in an online match' on consoles for a LONG time come out and basically say 'bigger != better', and drop from 60 players per match to "only" 16?
resistance 2 sucked balls, no other way to put it. Resistance 3 looks pretty awesome from what ive seen so far. 8 vs 8 is MORE than enough for multiplayer, once you start going above that it pretty quickly turns into, well, resistance 2 - rubbish.
