GameStooge previews 2K Sports' upcoming baseball game, Major League Baseball 2K11.
Excerpt: "The analog pitching is still the same, which is a good thing. However, from the gameplay, it feels like getting the hitter out is a little harder now, unlike the previous editions when one pitch would always be chased (yes, we’re looking at you, Mr. Slider.) Fielding seems a little stiffer, but it turns out that fielding ratings have a real effect now; if you’re not a good OF, you’ll be slower and you have to get closer to the ball to catch it. The computer, incidentally, actually committed an error in the infield, something you seldom saw in 2K10. The pitcher’s glove isn’t a vacuum, either. Hitting feels the same, though – tapping the analog for contact, pulling it back for power. It’s hard to say if it’s improved, but it isn’t a detriment, at least."
MLB 2K11 is Released for OnLive and priced at $13.99 (US) or £10.49 (UK). While the game was released for other platforms back in March, it is finally making it's way to OnLive
The New York Yankees are one of those teams, like the Dallas Cowboys, that you either love, or love to hate. But for most of his career, Derek Jeter has been the one guy most people liked. In fact, he was on the cover of 2K Sports MLB 2K5, 2K6 and 2K7 for just that reason. These days, with his poor batting average pulling down the team and his recent decision to skip the MLB All-Star Game in Phoenix (along with most of the other big names in baseball), he’s become the subject of negative press. Jeter talks about his earlier days, when playing video games was a bigger part of his life, in this exclusive interview.

Like last year’s MLB 2k10, 2K11 has a date specific achievement involving this game. The achievement is called, “Mid-Summer Classic” and the description simply says, “Play the All-Star game in MLB Today.” Even though the All-Star game is not until tomorrow, 2K Sports is giving us three whole days to get this achievement out of the way. That’s right, you all have from the rest of today (July 11) until July 13th to knock this achievement out of the park.
