simply because PC hardware differs so vastly, and also because a PC – like it or not – is not a console. Nobody has to upgrade their Xbox 360's graphics card every year, Crucial doesn't stock RAM for the Wii and you don't have to install a game on your friend's PS3 before you can show it to them. Consoles are specialised hardware; PCs are diversified hardware designed to "adapt" to whatever is thrown at them. Unfortunately, unless developers release an edition of their game for each individually-tuned system, the PC platform is simply too diverse to be accurately and conclusively compared to any home console.

It's pretty amazing that the xbox 360 is comparable to a high end PC. Bioshock alone needs atleast a Dual Core 2 processor to run around the same level as the 360. That is the minority in home pc's. The majority of pc users only need a pentium 4 for basic pc use.

For those of you that own a $600 ps3 and a $2500 high end PC, than good for you. But my $350 Xbox 360 is all I need to play next gen games.

This is such a generalization so i dont even know where to begin.
First of, no one buys a 7k PC. Thats retarded from a gaming perspective.
Secondly, Exclusivity isnt an issue on the PC. PCgamers dont CARE about exclusivity as long as their games dont get consolized (useless UI, menues etc. think oblivion).
And you do the same damn mistake every semi gamejournalists does. You make it PC vs consoles, not pc vs ps3, pc vs xbox 360 etc, whick makes the whole comparison useless.
Lets take a look at the PC vs current gen consoles in the fps category
xbox360 got 4 games over 90%, only exclusive is Halo 3.
PS3 got none over 90%
Wii got 1 (metroid prime 3)
Current gen pcgames (DX9)= 6 over 90%
And pc games got 65 games over 80%.

Another thing. The games released on both pc/console almost always get lower scores on the pc side. Why? because there is soooo much more to compare with. Consoles never had halflife, or tribes, or battlefield 1942.
Same thing especially applies to th e Halo series. Put it infront of a console only gamer its "wow! cool this is the best ive played".
Put it infront of an experienced PCgamer its "Meh, seen it all before, nothing new and why can i only play with 16 other people?"

The grading criteria for console fps is soooooo much lower. The singleplayer in Halo 1 and 2 is a joke compared to halflife, halflife 2 etc. I havent played trough the third yet but all my friends tell me its barely worth the time...

And MP, mp is so much slower (yes it is, go watch a q1 match) hitboxes the size of a house , This may be fine with an avarage console gamer but when youve spent hours learning to snipe in any pcgame, the "point in targets general direction and watch it die" seems quite retarded.
The controls are inferior, otherwise they wouldnt have to compromise all the god damn time.
Immersion is another thing many are talking about i dont know about you but take KZ2, The feeling of being in a fight is totally ruined by the fact that the aiming is kinda like when i try to read the Mcdonalds menu aftar 15 beers, its slow, its constantly moving since my finger/crosshair isnt exactly where i want it to be. Tobad the mcdonalds menu had a smaller hitbox...

OK to round this off:
NONE of the 90+ exlusive console shooters would get 90+ when compared to the pc shooters. I dare say everything above 80% is better on pc than anything on consoles.
IF you have no pc fps experience the console games may seem fine and even awesome. Having played fps since CW makes console games seem bland.
And dont even get me started on FPS or real western RPGs. How could anyone prefer a controller to a mouse in World in conflict och C&c3?

There is no point in spending that much on a PC for games seeing no game is going to demand the capabilities of a machine that costs that much. I built my PC for about £500 in all (about $1000). I use it for work and games. It can handle Crysis up to high settings (according to the game specs). Oh no! I cant play it in ultra high - WHO CARES as long as it plays well in high.

I also own a PS3. I would never buy a FPS on a console as they are hell to control. I would never buy a beat-um-up on a PC. Some games are suited to one machine over another, its as simple as that. However some games fit into a grey area. Assassins Creed PC or PS3 ?!? Could be a tough decision but my gut says PS3 as it is 3rd person perspective. If it was first person it would be PC all the way. I hope they release some demos on all formats so I can make an informed choice on my purchase, if they dont I will get it on PS3.

pc gaming is waaayyy too expensive for me. then also take into concideration that the only new pc game this year is crysis. its just not worth it anymore. i used to be a pc gamer. now i just play consoles.

Im sure someone without a job might find it expensive but if you own a 360 or ps3 you could have built a gaming rig for the same amount.

I have a job so money isnt a concern for much of anything. Matter of fact while i take price into consideration what idiot lets that determine what product you get?

PC mouse is far superior to controllers in everyway. PC's flat out run better. Even if you have a crappy system doesnt mean you cant run at 60fps or visa viersa doesnt mean you cant pump the AA and textures high and run @ 20fps.

PC's are great because if you build them, then its like designing your own console. Has everything you want and nothing you dont.

Dont hate on PC's if it wasnt for them and there high end video cards you wouldnt be playing console games either. FYI most of the work is done on high end pc's.

Read the update/ comment the writer made... He addressed some of the issues you guys have. The $7,000 thing had NOTHING to do with what else he said, if he had said $2500 his point would still stand.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
