Make Your PC a Gaming Machine

Just think that you are playing a high end game on your PC that requires some graphic card or extra disk space. It sounds interesting huh so now stop dreaming it and know that how you can do that in reality.

no. if you can slot in a cartridge you can install a GPU

B1663r5560d ago

You should also put dielectric grease on there, it is cheaper if you get it at autozone, but a a bunch of geeks are gonna jump on me and tell me you don't need the dielectric grease on your cards, but after a lifetime in the back of a computer shop I assure you it will make your computer last 6 months longer...

@B1663R

Interesting suggestion. I've always installed my GPUs without any type grease and they've lasted for years. Heck, my 8800GTS is still alive and kicking in my old computer.

Sarcasm,

I hear what you are saying, and I may do it to the point of supersition... but anyhow here goes my anecdote...

Way back in the day, it was a pentium 2 that was crashing for no aparent reason, cpu and ram all check out. Old bearded guy says, lets try putting some dielectric grease on the connecting bits, and sure enough the computer ran fine after that.

So I have used it since then, and again this might be supersition on my part... But it seems like it makes the whole process of assembly and setting the computer up go easier and faster, and I get fewer of those funky unreproduceable errors...

Like I said, it might be supersition.

Like my feeling that a cpu and a motherboard become a matched set if they are stuck together for long enough...

I have this It's actually good!

SuicideShaun5560d ago

This probably wouldn't work or be stable at all with things like stock coolers and old hardware.

Kakkoii5560d ago

Uhhh, this isn't overclocking software. It just disables running services on your computer that aren't essential when running a game. Thus freeing up system resources and less data needing to be crunched with each clock.

Hanif-8765560d ago

AMD Fusion does most of this and its free :-)

JsonHenry5560d ago

if all your parts are AMD.. which mine are.

The best way to get a gaming PC is to incorporate your gaming components into your 5 yearly PC update etc.

It's funny seeing people say "I can't afford a gaming PC" then these same people posts forum posts about a laptop they just bought for close to $1000 that has integrated graphics.

Step 1. Learn what parts mean and how they compare to other parts instead of just listening to the salesperson who will sell you a laptop with no graphics card...

Step 2. Buy online. Who pays for the privilege of having a greasy bald technologically illiterate person lie to them.

I had a salesperson tell me that HDMI is the best video cable possible. I was going to explain how it has a 60 frame limit at 1080 but that DVI-D can do 120frames....then I was going to tell him that Display Port support 10bit colour ( billions of colours ) whereas HDMI is 1bit ( about 16 million colours ) but I decided to walk out and leave that smug prick in his ignorant dream land.

Step 3. Buy components with future upgrades in mind. Eg. A faster CPU and only a moderate GPU. There is no point in putting a new GPU into a 3 year old machine if your 3 year old machine only had a moderate to low CPU at it's time of release, CPU bottleneck will kill any future upgrades.

If your CPU is good then your next GPU will give even more value with no other upgrades required.

Step 4. http://img843.imageshack.us...

@JsonHenry

Having one bubble is a blessing though; less arguments with retards and it let's me make snappy one liners like this:

"KZ3 looks like $#!+ :)" < Comedy gold.

JsonHenry5560d ago

You are making too much sense for this site. It figures one of the few people making sense and trying to help others only has one bubble.

Start posting positive things about the PS3 in the PS3 articles and bubbles will rain from the heavens. :/

limewax5560d ago

You clearly know your stuff so Im just going to ask quickly, How much could you setup a decent gaming rig for with the free help of someone who can put it all together? In GBP if you know the conversion rate would help. I have been thinking about a rig a lot but people tend to exaggerate prices

Apollyn5560d ago

£500-600max easily doable

Qdog5560d ago

I completely agree with everything you put forth. I've been building and overclocking for longer than I'd care to remember (or my bank account would like to remember), and I can say in a very basic sense, you are spot on and any person new to the PC (not laptop) scene would benefit greatly from following what you've said.

Sarcasm5560d ago (Edited 5560d ago )

I highly agree about the CPU post. A fast CPU should last for years but GPUs get outdated much quicker. I learned that the hard way trying to put a GTX 260 on my old Pentium D LOL, needless to say even the GTX260 was severely bottlenecked by the CPU. One day I want to build something along the lines of an Intel 990X or whatever else comes out in the future. For now my AMD 965 3.8ghz is fast enough.

So all I need is a new power supply so I can feed that New video card, a new motherboard, new cpu, and ram that fits in all there, and then my old sata hard drive is probably ready to die, so a new hard drive as well, then I am gold. Well, except that this beigh box is pretty crufty, so I should get a new one of those as well.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio21d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing21d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9221d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit21d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing21d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9221d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
