GamerNode's Eddie Inzauto writes: Sometimes a game's universal acclaim leaves me wondering if critics are getting soft, giving it and games like it a free pass in certain ways. In such cases, I find it difficult to stand behind even a reasonably well crafted title, and feel it necessary to voice my dissent.

EA has shut down rumors that EA Motive considered a Dead Space 2 remake before shelving it due to low sales of the previous game, saying there's "no validity" to the reports.
Why not remake DS2 whether shot down or not it's still my favorite game next to DS1. As much as I hate EA I would buy or would have bought DS2 day one.
No validity XD "Guys guys, we cant possible make a good game or cater to the gamers wants, stop"
I don't know if sales met their expectations or not. I just know that the high review scores received my attention so I was interested in buying it, but its price stayed high (50+ bucks) for so long that I simply never bothered picking it up.

Nameer from eXputer: "Dead Space 2 is a sequel that delivers such a feast that by the time you're done, you're not only full but also satisfied."
Hope they remake this one too. Just like they did with number 1. The remake of Dead Space 1 was perfection
thanks to the digital pass for it it was not perfect..in fact its difficult to find a working copy since many years.

Battlefield Bad Company 2, Dead Space 2, Crysis 3, and a handful other EA games have finally had their online services shut down.
I had no idea that Bad Company 2 was still running, and only now that I know, I want to jump on! 😥
BF1943 is the only online MP game that I was genuinely interested in. Been playing since launch 14 years ago. Hate that I couldn't put in as much time to play as I'd hoped for during the final week.
Dead Space 2...... I wasn't even aware that had multiplayer. Nevermind that it was apparently one of their best multiplayers!
Dead Space 2 multiplayer had been hanging on for years - I'd boot my PS3 up to see some familiar names in lobbies. This will definitely be missed!
I can definitely appreciate the idea that it's not a great horror game. I do think it's a pretty solid sci-fi shooter, though, which is why I liked it and scored it as such. I think there's some merit to detracting from the game's goodness because of the action orientation since it's self-described as survival horror, which I don't think it is. There were plenty of people who felt the same way (online forums and whatnot) and were upset as a result. I was more of the mind that while it may not fit in the survival horror box it puts itself in, it's a pretty damn good experience outside of that.
The problem with Dead Space 2 started with marketing. By calling it "much scarier than the first game", Visceral immediately put it on a pedestal of expectations. It simply wasn't up to it. It isn't a bad game by any stretch, but it lacks the freshness of the original Dead Space's setting. There is no specific genre the second game fits into. A tightly conrolled horror game without any scares, or a clunkly yet explosive corridor actioneer?
I've been debating DS 2 for this exact reason. As a huge fan of the first, I was hoping for more gritty, disturbing segments rather than the action-packed shocker that was produced.
I'm sure this game is frightening, but for different reasons. I want a game that will scare me even when I'm not playing it, and from what I've heard this doesn't do the trick.
I'll wait for a price drop and then pick it up.
From what I've seen of the game I can totally understand where you're coming from. I haven't played the sequel yet, but I kind of felt the same way about the first game even though I really enjoyed it. Now it seems like they're toning down the horror elements even more, so I'm interested in playing it to see how it turned out.
