Operation Flashpoint: Red River Hands On Preview

“This is for all you new people: I only have one rule. Everyone fights. No one quits. You don’t do your job, I’ll shoot you myself. You get me?” This quote, from a rather epic and iconic film, is the way I would say that Operation Flashpoint: Red River was put across to me when I got a hands on playing of the game this past week. You need a team, you need a strong leader, and you need to be ready to bring everything you’ve got to the table because otherwise you’ll have enough lead in you to pass for a Chinese children’s toy.

Very much looking forward to this game. Sure, it's not the best quality FPS, but I love slower paced tactical shooters. I also love how it's all about co-op... campaign plus different co-op modes. More games need extensive co-op!

Off topic... what ever happened to Rainbow Six? Are they making another one this gen, anyone know?

CyberCam5481d ago (Edited 5481d ago )

I'm right there with you v_o_r! I too love the slower paced tactical shooters & co-op, way more than the break neck paced twitchy arcade multiplayer shooters, that have become so popular these days! I'm looking forward to this game just because it's only co-op.

The one thing I'm hoping for is better graphics on the consoles... OFP:DR's graphics on the PS3 was horrible, especially looking at enemies in the draw distance.

As for Rainbow Six... I fell in love with the two original games made by Redstorm Entertainment on PC! Those games were the best in the series. R6:Raven Shield wasn't bad either (that's when Ubisoft took it over), but after that it went all arcadey & spiraled downhill!

They'll probably make another one by the end of 2012, but I won't be interested unless they bring it back to it's roots.

Same here. There's been a distinct lack of these types of games this generation, mainly because I think a lot of the big reviewers have been marking them down with negative reviews due to their complexity and therefore more prone to having some A.I. issues here and there, which IMO is bullshit, considering the issues games like CoD: Black Ops released with.

Anyway, after nearly not purchasing Dragon Rising because of above said reviews, but then deciding to take the plunge anyway and thoroughly enjoying the crap out of it. Well I am really looking forward to Red River.

Games for Windows Live? Not Steam? KANFJABGUIEHOGNV! Are they stupid? GfWL is absolute trash. The servers are especially unstable when downloading games. Buying this game on the PS3 for sure.

Yeah, Steam is much better. I wont go near Windows Live.

'It marked the first time the studio had used the license in 18 years since 2022’s Colin McRae Rally 3.'

Can you not get AI to do proofreading?

Weird article written by a bot.

In any case I knew EA would ruin Codemasters.

Codemasters will likely close soon😞

Here’s the deal with this bullsh*t, and this is the single reason I f*cking hate digital, this wouldn’t be so much an issue if these people would give an announcement before they pull their games so people have a chance to get them before they’re gone. I mean, how hard is that to do?

Like, I prefer digital for the convenience of it and making me less of a hoarder, but stuff like this can drive me up the wall and I’m aware this also happens with physical games, but you can still acquire a game from eBay, though all scalped to hell, whereas digital you’re SOL… unless you have a PC.

spicelicka349d ago

Not to mention they also replace old base games with "bundles" back at full price. Some of the old and shittiest COD games are still full price on digital stores.

phatak349d ago (Edited 349d ago )

yup everything you said is correct, but with digital you can also acquire it lol thanks to piracy, thats what made me a pirate . Spec ops the line got delisted last year and I just pirated it and never looked back, unfortunately these bigger publishers dont care about older games so dont even give a reminder, so if they dont even care about their own older games, why should I help them with their new games, ill pirate those as well. GOG is the best, you dont even need to pirate those, the games literally dont have any drm, and you can keep the files permanently too.

Michiel1989349d ago

the reason why i hate digital is because in 20 years when the servers go down, you can't play single player games anymore because shitty fucking companies want you to login to some arbitrary service to pad the numbers.

When a company like GoG does better than a titan like Sony, you know how terrible the state of gaming is.

Vits348d ago

Technically you are not wrong, only forgot to add Rights Management after the "digital".

CantThinkOfAUsername349d ago

These games had exactly 0 players. If you haven't played any of them by now you really didn't care in the slightest. Suddenly you're dying to play one of these classic turds? Sail to cs.rin.ru.

MrWood349d ago

Your right, if you click on the article vs the clickbait picture showing new and modern games, they are all old games I’ve never even heard of.

Zeke68348d ago

If you never heard of any of these games, are you even a gamer? ;)

Report: F1 24 Cover Datamined From F1 23 Files as Website Surfaces

The F1 24 announcement seems imminent, as the Champions Edition cover and details have surfaced in F1 23's game files after the latest patch.

To Sony, and so many other companies in this industry, the short-term satisfaction and happiness of their shareholders means so much more to them than their employees, their products, and their customers.

Yi-Long733d ago

Apologies, don't know how the above comment ended up here while it clearly should have gone to other article about the Sony lay-offs. Please delete.
