DOOM running on a Calculator

Revolt-Tech.com Writes:

The folks at Omnimaga have developed a version of DOOM which runs on the TI-Nspire graphing calculator by Texas Instruments. It is of course fully black and white, but the representation of the original is quite impressive. The game is currently in beta

Well, thats really pointless, clever dont get me wrong......just pointless

writersblock5565d ago

Its completely pointless, but its also awesome

One thing I find funny is that the cost of these calculators starts at like 120 dollars, which is more than the cost for something that would actually run it properly

Still, awesome

meetajhu5565d ago

its awesome. When i can't answer anything on the question paper i would just leave the exam hall but no they won't let me out until 1 hour of 3hours expires till then i'll play Doom! This is so cool John Carmack programmed such a optimized engine!

homersimpson5565d ago

Im guessing the engine isnt his, they would have a new one built for the calculator, no?

Ocelot5255564d ago

actually it isn't pointless, in school the only allowed electronic device was a ti-84 plus calculator. This is why I've put wolf3d on my calculator so I could play in the mathematics lessons.

After school hours I had attend something they called 'study' till o'clock. Then I also played games on my calculator(the teachers thought I was studying math lol). After a while i became bored with calculator games so I studied the code behind the calculator games and started with programming games myself.

I became interested in programming. And after middle school I studied informatics

Now I'm about to graduate...

all thanks to calculator games

I remember I used to play games on my TI-83PLUS graphing calculator when I was in HS.

This is more advanced then the games I used to play on the 83 tho. The 83 had some sweet versions of mario, tetris, bust-a-move, and galaga. And some sweet original games like FallDown and drug wars.

That would be cool to show off. I dont see myself ever playing through it though, when you could easily get it for pc

Cajun Chicken5564d ago

It runs Doom!

Oh, how I miss that website.

Vladplaya5564d ago

Considering that you can't play with your phone, Ipad, or Ipod, in the classes, that is very clever and somewhat useful thing to know

Simon's Quest is better than Symphony.

If you're gonna troll, at least make a legitimate attempt.

Levii_92371d ago

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

LG_Fox_Brazil370d ago

That's a pretty fucking great list

__y2jb370d ago (Edited 370d ago )

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.

After watching Scavengers Reign? The answer is unequivocally yes. I really want something out of left field but I think people are too afraid to shake things up.

It's what I love about Shadowrun and Black Mirror. Love, Death, and Robots proved that there's an audience for stuff that doesn't fit the mold.

Gamingsince1981459d ago

Weird games in general we don't get enough of, we need more games like Katamari and Mr domino, things like that
