The massively multiplayer online genre has thrived on the PC. Sadly, the MMO genre has not been able to successfully reach consoles.

What does it mean?
I´d played both State of Decay games and I can safely say that this teaser image has nothing to do with it.
New Next Gen IP? O.o
Why are they teasing a new game when state of decay isn’t even close to being released?? Let’s not pull a Bethesda and insomniac
Please focus on state of decay 3.. I’ve been waiting patiently lol
One of the comments is quite interesting:
Asked deepseek again with New images **"State of Decay 3: TEMPEST"**
(or "WINDS" / "STORM")
featuring:
**A survival system with up to 8 survivors** in a dynamic environment (floods, winds, resource scarcity).
### Key Elements Explained:
1. **"TEMPEST" / "STORM"**
→ From the repeated character **风 (fēng) - "wind"**, implying extreme weather as a core mechanic.
2. **Up to 8 survivors**
→ From **八 (bā) - "eight"** + **人多 (rén duō) - "many people"**, suggesting squad size limits.
3. **Dynamic Environment**
→ References to **水 (shuǐ) - "water"** (floods) and **风 (fēng)** (storms) signal environmental threats.
4. **Resource Struggle**
→ **米 (mǐ) - "rice"** and **木 (mù) - "wood"** hint at survival mechanics (food, building).

"Today we are excited to announce that the Undead Labs Studio Head and Founder, Jeff Strain, is launching an exciting new initiative."
Great to see that all of Microsoft's new studios are seeing growth now that they are a part of Xbox Game Studios.
A studio not headquatered in Washington or California? I..I need to sit down..
Now that the acquisition has slowed down, it all about heavily investing in the studios. We already saw great talent reaching Obsidian, Playground games. the initiative and the Inxile. Ninja theory in the midst of building a new studio in Cambridge and now undead labs are starting a new one.
The only studio that has been under the radar is Compulsion games.

As rumours of ArenaNet employee layoffs have been appearing today, Undead Labs sends a message of support and says that they will do everything they can "to help people find their next great opportunity" and that they will do "their best to coordinate" the job opportunities "with the entire Xbox Game Studios family".
"We’ll do our best to coordinate with the entire Xbox Game Studios family to ensure we have broad representation of opportunity within all of our studios."
That Zombie MMO on Xbox live arcade looks good, and MS was gracious enough to offer to help with the project.....a rarity in todays gaming industry.
uh? isnt DC Universe Online a success on the ps3 ? when they get that monthly payment out of the way or free with playstation plus i will pick it up , i was thinking about it 2 days ago at Best Buy but i decided not to , im not gonna pay to play online , get a free version somehow and i'll get it for sure.
hope to see Free Realms on the ps3 soon and free subscription to The Agency please !!!!
I just think it really depends on the title and where it's released like a good example is Monster Hunter Frontier on 360 in Japan. Not to mention with a live subscription you can play Monster Hunter Frontier free on the 360. So it's pretty much a two part deal which works out okay if 360 is your main hub of choice. So I think it's possibly for MMOs to do well.
I think the author has a point though keyboard experience to controller is interesting, but at the same time why not just get a USB keyboard and play? It's what I did for FFXI on PS2. Controller was just not working. Anyway I think the best course for MMO console wise is to have some sort of action element that can utilize the controller quite well. Best case I can think of again would be Monster Hunter.
they should stick with PCs not consoles that will spoil it.. that's why Lucas Arts have got some common sense and brought star wars the old republic ONLY to pc :)
Action MMO's like Tera and Blade and Soul could really take off.
