Most gamers try to get the biggest bang for their buck when purchasing their games. However, not every game needs to be 20+ hours. Find out why a 6-10 hour game is more than justified in our latest editorial!

Circana data shows Resident Evil 5 as the best selling Resident Evil game in the US, ahead of Resident Evil 4 remake and Village.
So the most successful RE is the one where a white man is killing Africans.
This can't be real.

New leaks from Dusk Golem detail cancelled Resident Evil projects, including a Rebecca focused Revelations game, while stating no Resident Evil 5 remake is in development.
Capcom's willingness to invest in experiments and scrap them sets them apart form many other developers (Nintendo have a similar methodology). Far too often companies push a game setting or game mechanic that is just not that good and the final product is middling or poor.

Dusk Golem claims a Resident Evil 5 remake is not coming this year, with a Code Veronica remake expected instead.
Hopefully if and when they do a RE5 remake, they give it the RE3 remake treatment, because this is certainly one title that I don't want a faithful remake of.
Depends on the genre and if it has multiplayer.
A single player only game needs to be 10 - 12 hours for me to shell out the cash, or else I might as well rent it for the day and send it back with gamefly or Redbox (yes redbox let's you rent game for $2 now.)
If a game is full of action, good story and replayability then 6-10 hours can be enough. Its just that there are a lot of games releasing now that are only 5-7 hours long and after 1 playthrough you're done, and not interested in replaying them.
There are also games that go on too long and the story or gameplay gets boring. Longer games need to keep you interested more. Those games do need a very good story and nice gameplay.
Well that is long enough for a rental... but unless it also has multiplayer that is not enough to buy.
I just played Heavy Rain the other day, I rented it and completed it in 2 days. I enjoyed playing it, but I have no desire to replay it as I know the story and different endings will not persuade me to replay. So it was a great rental, but would have been a bad buy.
A game like COD or Killzone however it is not so bad if the single player seems a bit short (although its still better to be a bit longer) as alot more hours will be spent by most people on the multiplayer than on single player.
Single player games like Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Mass Effect are worth buying though as they obviously have a long shelf life!
any shooter shouldn't have more than a 10 hour campaign. even with a great story line and some new additions, it all comes down to the same thing. Run and Gun. Go up head to head with 10+ AI enemies and win without a problem. Just seems dumb to me now.
I buy games for multiplayer these days anyways.
