You would think with how big the video game market is in America, the good old U. S. of A. would be a haven for those who pirate games. This however, is not the case.

Spain, France and Italy ranked one of the top 5. Wow! They can afford to purchase a football ticket every week but don't have the will to purchase a game. Shame!

ChrisW5589d ago (Edited 5589d ago )

Hey! Football is their life, love, and happiness. That's why it's a priority!

BTW, I'm surprised Germany isn't in the Top 5. I run across ripped German stuff all the time in Binaries.

spdarksky5589d ago

Football is their life, love and happiness. True, but that doesn't means that they can take other people's (the game developers that spends their night and day in the office developing their games) life, love and happiness.

They sweat and crack their heads thinking how to make games but they got no loyalty for all their hard work. Because? Yes people take their work (games) and use it for free.

" the game developers that spends their night and day in the office developing their games"

They are just pawns of a company.
Get in, do work, get out.

They get payed anyway, its not like they will get their paycheck after the game has gone gold.

Some developers make it look like its a happy family thing. But thats only with developers who count a small team.

Don't over-dramatize please.

The only thing that could damage these developers is when there is no income.
But you make it sound like each developer unit cries his heart out every night cause some people pirate.

spdarksky5589d ago (Edited 5589d ago )

Sidar,
The way you said it like you're encouraging pirating then? I'm a programmer my self. I know and i feel how bad it is when somebody 'steal' your work and use it for free.

"They get payed anyway, its not like they will get their paycheck after the game has gone gold."

Who paid them? The company right? Who own the company? Directors right? They spend their money to pay the programmers. Who will give them money to continue operating? By sales. If they lost they close doors. When they close doors they lost money. They have to pay banks for their loans that they use to operate the company. Who to blame?

I didn't say that piracy is sole reason for all mishap. But really big countries with high purchasing power like Italy, France and Spain shouldn't be in the list. China i can understand. But Spain, Italy and France...Come on...

ChickeyCantor5589d ago (Edited 5589d ago )

Did you even read my comment?
Seriously.

Assuming tooooo much.

You were emphasizing on personal feelings. This irrelevant to the consequences for a company.

If you are a " programmer" like i am( trainee ) then you know you will be put into a freaking corner and program module X, which is just a fraction of the game. You wouldn't even bother make it that personal to say " MY GAME" .
All you would care about is your income, so please do not over-dramatize on personal feelings.

Doesn't quite work like that in real life but whatever, unless I go back in time and help you get the oxygen you clearly missed out on at birth I doubt I'll ever help you see the 3000 things wrong with that statement.

killalot1005589d ago

I wss not expecting that. China has to be first for damn sure.

kagon015589d ago

I knew it!!! Spain was more into pirating that Mexico!!! No wonder they where stealing gold for more that 300 years...

Raider695589d ago (Edited 5589d ago )

Lets not forget that a game in USA cost 35 to 40€ in UK cost 45 to 50€ and France ,ESP,POR,IT..cost 60 to 70€!So its obvious that country's were games cost more and were jobs payments are lower will have bigger pirate games .... numbers!

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing38d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9238d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit38d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing38d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9238d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
